I’m very happy that the 3D editor has arrived. It hasn’t even been 24 hours since it arrived, but I already wanted to share some thoughts/details (referring to using Gdevelop on mobile):
1- The controls on mobile are a bit complicated; having to use three fingers to rotate the camera is quite difficult. I think the camera could be rotated with just one finger
2- Another silly detail is that when we select other instances, the selected tool always returns to “move” mode, in my opinion, it would be much better if it stayed on the same tool
3- Another problem is not being able to open the small quick options tab, specifically the one that allows you to duplicate, copy, paste, etc. making it impossible to duplicate an object and do other things with it (at least on mobile), and it also doesn’t allow double-clicking on the instance to open the object editor
4-Regarding resizing, the grid snap doesn’t work when resizing an instance. And another problem is that it’s only possible to resize the instance from one side.
I think Gdevelop’s 3D editor on mobile could be based on Blockbench, which is much more intuitive to use.
Point 2 would indeed work better, we updated this for next version.
Point 3 same, we fixed the double click on small screen so that it opens the object properties (though not the full object editor, we’ll see if it’s better this way - this interrupts less the flow when you change want to do changes on an object without hiding the editor. Especially cool to see changes in real time. And there are buttons in case you want to open the full dialog)
For point 1 I’m not sure how the camera could be moved with just one finger as it’s already used for selecting and moving?
For point 4, it’s true that grid is only for positioning for now. We’ll see if this can be adapted to be used for resizing too.
Oh, thank you for replying. Regarding point 1, it’s really uncomfortable to use 3D fingers to move, especially on small screens. The only thing I can think of that would solve the problem would be a toggle button between camera movement mode and selection mode. Or perhaps the selection only appears when we hold down on the screen for a bit. But that’s okay, I don’t want to cause any confusion, the editor is already doing great, thank so much.
