…i know nobody wants to hear this answer, but youre probably not missing something easy. if youre certain the animation is there and going to be exported, and it doesnt work, then…well thats kinda just how gdevelop is. May i have the file so i can inspect it in blender?
Hi zgc, when there was no answer I assumed you got an answer privately so I didn’t have a look. I downloaded your file but it’s a glb and I don’t think it will open in Blender? Could you try exporting from blockbench as an Obj? I have blender but don’t really know how to use it but it can probably open Obj? Update: No, I don’t think it can.
But, I did load your glb into a GD project and it didn’t seem to have any animations but I don’t know what it’s meant to look like when it does.
Had another look and downloaded an animated pigeon from the GD assets store and the animations were clearly there in the GD object properties. So, yeah, you might have to look into is it actually possible for Blockbench animations to export in a way that GD can use.
Ooh, update. I found a Blockbench model on itch, imported into web Blockbench and then exported it and no, the animations don’t appear in GD automatically but I was able to select it from a drop down list. But yours didn’t have the animation to add. So I think this is a you/Blockbench thing haha.
Huh, I’m pretty sure when I exported it it shows my all the poses (animations) but I just realised soemthing, Its in one pose, not one animation to another to another…
Yep…
Now imma have to figure out how to do it pose by pose.
also teenagers, be aware that there’s also this thing called youtube - which is great for some gentle advice on slippers, knitwear, leather recliners, war documentaries, sheds and power tools.
Also I frequently use it for checking my devlog stats …watching one of them again and finding myself highly amusing…then going back to the stats and getting excited that the views have gone up from 3 to 4!
Yup did it and got the animation! not the smoothest, but its a start.
I was using a minecraft skin, that was the problem, i should have clicked on bedrock entity.
Glad it’s sorted …can’t believe my comment has become the solution…I don’t like to encourage young folk to watch you tube …but with 3d editors …you’ve no chance without out it. I asked my son if he’d show me how to use blender properly and he gave me a withering look and told me to watch the YouTube tutorials like everyone else. I got a bit of help from him yesterday as it was father’s day …but it all happened too quickly for me to tell what he was up to and having the ability to pause him after each hotkey press would have helped immensely…so sadly …YouTube it is!
