Specifically, a DAW for Windows. I currently use LMMS, but I think now would be a good time to switch programs.
Any recommendations?

It really depends on what sort of music you want to make and whether you want to avoid spending any money. I use cubase …but only because ive always used cubase and i find it easy to use - but its not cheap and i know there’s better options out there!
what don’t you like about lmms?
Since I work on a Chromebook, I use AbyssBox (mod of beepbox.co that has a lot of features like custom samples) and BandLab for most of what I do, but besides that I don’t really know. I used FL at one point, I’m not very good with it though. If you do go the route of using FL, there is a YouTuber named synthet who does little tips about music and such.
honestly…FL Studio. Garageband and Logic Pro would probably be better fit for you but you dont use a mac, so id just go for FL Studio.
Honestly, there isn’t that much wrong with LMMS, it’s more that I want a change of scenery and try a new program. The only real issue I have with LMMS is that there really aren’t many presets built in that I like, but nothing that can’t be solved with an external VST.
As for cubase, while it does look interesting, it’s not like I have any real money I can spend, so I’m really just limited to free options.
$99 for the cheapest plan, those figures are just a little out of my reach…
20 years ago there was a guy selling cds of cracked software - photoshop, cubase, 3d cad software - anything you wanted! at the back of Leeds Market between 8am and 9am on a Sunday morning. It met all my software needs! …he might be still there!?
edit - i’m joking of course - I like artruria plugins - ive not spent much money on stuff over the years. I bought cubase artist 15 years ago and im still using it…but it keeps pushing the benefits of an upgrade!
didnt say thats how you needed to get it
Fair enough I guess…
Searching FL on archive.org gave me a lot of FL Mobile APKs/IPAs and also FL Studio 5 (which I don’t know how well 5 works, but I do know that 11 and 13 work pretty well if you manage to find them)
okay so I went back to internet archive and I found all of FL 1-20, i’m not sure if this’ll work, but I looked through the ZIP in the website and there seems to be FL studio there, FL 1.0 to 20 (albeit with a few missing versions)
K, probably good idea to remove the link, or the comment entirely in case you get in trouble for spreading pirated software, just in case
uh…isnt FL Studio something needed to be patched or have keys used on? you can use FL Studio right now, it will just know its unregistered.
maybe idk, haven’t used it in a while
I think the really old versions (like before 5.0) don’t need one tho
