Big file sizes with warnings

What if GDevelop added a feature that allowed you to bypass the file size limit for audio, videos, etc. but showed a warning to players about high file size, similar to how Geometry Dash gives a warning if a level has a higher amount of objects than the recommended limit (40,000, although it can be extended to 80k and then infinity)

I feel like this could open so many opportunities for high-quality games. Video cutscenes? You can keep them at full 4K, no matter how long! (allow skipping the cutscenes please) Maps? Full quality. You see what I mean? After all, the player will know, because there’ll be a warning that this game you’re trying to play has big files.

While I fully agree, I have to say that, at least based on my own experience, even removing the limit, it’s something the engine just wouldn’t be able to handle.

I say this as someone who tried creating in 2K and then had to scale things down afterwards… simply not enough power to go beyond that.

That said, I do believe things are slowly changing, and in the right direction.

Maybe when GDevelop 6 eventually arrives we’ll get stuff like that
