I’m using steamOS on a gaming handheld computer with a touchscreen and every time I use the touchscreen I become unable to drag actions using the cursor.
Steps to reproduce
tap touchscreen on GDevelop editor.
try to drag an action using left click.
action is selected but isn’t dragged.
If I avoid using the touchscreen on the editor the bug doesn’t trigger and I’m able to work, but I always forget. Closing the editor fixes it until I touch the screen again out of reflex.
I’ve read similar posts from years ago, and seem it mentioned that it might be the engine going into something called “tablet mode”, but then I wonder why I can’t drag the actions with the touchscreen either.
Are you using the latest version?
A workaround is to disable the touchscreen (For me (Windows) I use Device Manager) while using Gdevelop and enable it back after.
Hi Ansell, I agree with what you said in the github issue, disabling touch screen is a pain, I don’t know why there isn’t an easier way than going into Device manager. My project is for mobile so I actually do use my laptop screen for testing pinch to zoom etc. I didn’t know about the fix and your github issue, but yes, thank you, it is a bit better now. It’s now possible to drag whole events but still can’t drag individual actions or conditions.
I read your posts and only made another one because I’ve been scolded for “commenting on year old posts”.
Is weird that they haven’t fixed this by giving manual acces to the switch between tabletMode and desktopMode with an option at the preference menu. And if they wanna keep it automated for the lazy people that don’t read docks or enter the preference menu, maybe put a switch in preferences to disable that automation so everyone else can avoid this.
That’s true. But they don’t scold people for commenting on still valid feature requests or bug reports. But they do scold people for starting new ones, I have seen this many times.
