Closing GDevelop with 2 tabs open. It opens with 10 next time. Every time

As above. When I close GDevelop it does not remember what tabs I have open for next time, and opens many more than I had before. It does seem to include the one I left open, though. I think this happened a while ago and was resolved. It’s back.

In 99% of my projects i have only 2 tabs open and i have only one project where i have more than 2 open and i never seen it happen

Can you reproduce with new project?

It happens with all projects, including new empty ones.

Edit: after opening a few old projects, and making a new empty one, and then going back to my main project: tabs are working as normal between sessions. Weird. Perhaps making an empty project helped somehow.

Edit 2: scrap that. The unwanted behaviour is back after a few close/loads of GDevelop.

This happened before and was fixed. It seems to have been un-fixed.

Hey @worriedpixels

I’m wondering if it’s more of a memory issue on the local storage of GDevelop, reaching its max if you’ve opened tons of projects.

Can you test, for instance, updating your theme in the preferences, saving, and relaunching gdevelop to see if it sticks?
Can you also check if your “recent projects” list correctly updates with the projects you have recently opened, or is it stuck?

I rarely open any other project apart from my main. I opened an old gamejam game today and also created a new project, as part of diagnosing the tab issue. Before that, I hadn’t opened anything apart from my main for months.

I changed the theme (from dark to something that looks horrible! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:), then closed and reopened GDevelop. The expected 2 open tabs are there - the 10 are gone. The theme-switching may have nidged it into working correctly. This literally happened overnight. The app was fine yesterday and I did nothing new or unusual when working with it yesterday. When this happened before it needed a fix at your end, but the issue seems to be limited to me this time. Which is nice for everyone who isn’t me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thanks for your help. If it doesn’t happen again in the next 24 hours I’ll mark this as [solved].

Edit: I forgot to say: my recent file list is working fine.

I would try to install gdevelop again 1st
I know you fixed it but if it would happen again i would install again to exclude it being corrupted update issue

I wouldn’t say it’s specific to you, it can be related to the steps you follow when closing tabs / GDevelop, and could affect others too.

Thanks for confirming the recent projects & theme works.

Last question: when you close tabs, do you do it from the homepage or from the tabs themselves?

I appreciate your help on this.

I close tabs from their individual close buttons along the top of the screen (there are other ways?!). Typically, I’ll be working on one scene and close another without making it the active tab first. I have been successfully using tabs for several years now :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I launched GDevelop this morning and only the tabs I had open yesterday were open, so it seems to be fixed. The theme change seems to have nudged it into behaving… which I won’t even pretend to understand :upside_down_face:
