Dash lets you scale walls

using one of the dash behaviors, and the platformer behavior, it lets you get inside a wall, just enough to be able to jump, and I don’t have a solution because there isn’t really a way I can think of to stop this. My only solution thus far is to add a point just a little outside of the player to forbid them from dashing when the point is inside a wall, but there is a problem, the dash goes for more than where you start it so it happens for a while outside of the wall. I can’t set the point farther out because I can think of some gameplay reasons why that would be stupid already but I don’t have a solution for it that would work during the dash to stop it

Do you have it set to flip the player around when you move in a different direction? If so, it could be a point issue.

A way to fix this would be to use the “Move object away from object” action that will allow you to seperate the player and wall from each other.

You can use this when they collide and the player is inside the wall with the ignore.

And make this:

Just make sure the ignore is checked and you should be good to go (if this was the issue)

no, I have two distinct animations for left vs right so I don’t flip it, the only way I could think of to solve it at a glance is to change the dash behavior itself but you can’t do project specific code in a behavior

I see your problem. Below I have enclosed 2 solutions. Please open and look at both before starting one.

Solve with modifying behavior code

You cannot edit behaviors that are built-in, but if they come from an extension you can modify the extension code for the behavior.

If it is not built-in

For example, if you have the Smooth Camera behavior added, it will automatically add the SmoothCamera extension.

Then, you can click on it and press this button “open in editor”:

And you can edit it just like an event sheet. If you are newer to GDevelop, I would not reccommend doing this, since it requires a lot of knowledge about extensions. And this will only work for non-built-in behaviors. (

If it is built-in

you cannot edit it

I assume you are using this extension?

It contains these behaviors:

If you are

You can edit it with the above method under “If it is built-in”

If you are not

Please tell me which behavior/extension you are using if you do not understand what I have said.

Solve with a point

If you cannot do anything about it with the extension code, you could add a point just outside the player and if the point touches something while dashing it will cancel the dash.

already tried and failed this way

and I can’t do project specific things in a behavior so I don’t have a way to fix it there that I know of, both of these are good things to try but I’m apparently not good enough to make it work for either of them as I’ve tried so far

If you can send me the extension/behaviors you are using and your script I can try and make a version that can work out for you

I know you did the testing when they click, but what about while they dash? Have you done that yet is what I meant

yes, but turns out I made a dumb mistake, don’t change hitboxes between things in your character’s animations :man_facepalming:, now the animation clips the wall but that can be fixed

Cool, hope you can figure it out
