Fallout 1/2 style isometric movement with grid based pathfinding

Hi!

I’m trying to create a movement system very similar to Fallout 1/2.

By that I mean a grid based system, where the movement is based on clicking where the character should go and then they use pathfinding to go there automatically. Though unlike Fallout, I am just using squares, not hexagons.

I’ve tried to use the “Pathfinding Character (Grid Based)” behavior, but it doesn’t seem to have a setting for isometric grids? I’ve set the cell with to 64 and cell height to 32 but it made no difference.

Do I have to make a pathfinding system from scratch or can I somehow setup the pathfinding behavior to work with isometric grids?

There’s this template ..I looked at this a while ago (I think it’s one of davys) and I think the movement system was as you described

In this game example the graphics are isometric but the movement is completely free, not based along the isometric grid.

I’m sure there’s one free isometric project where you tap and it pathfinds to the tap. I’m on my phone though.

I don’t know if this can be helpful for your situation, but here there’s a topic about grid based movement I made in the style of NES/SNES Final Fantasy games: [SOLVED] Sprite still moving during separate objects in grid based movement

It isn’t isometric, and no pathfinding is used, but it could be helpful to create a grid-based structure. I apologise in advance if it isn’t useful for your case.

thats a classic one!

Managed to get it to work using:
