I’m trying to make a custom font from this image, but I can’t find a good tool to do so. SnowB doesn’t seem to work and its supposedly the only good option.
Well written i must say @ZeroX4 ! but i have a question, what does this mean? : <(‘.’ < )
Google kirby
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I can’t figure out how to get SnowB to work properly, are there any alternatives?
Ok I was just missing the part where you cut it into a bunch of images
You know what
I would actually suggest finding ANY ttf font that match size of your characters
They can even be different shape
That does not matter as long as size of them are close or exact as yours
And now you convert it to bitmap font with SnowB
And all you need to do now is replace characters on image atlas
Or just straight up draw them in some image editing software
There can be some issues like how you gonna tell apart , from ’
Cause now you can tell which is which
BUT in exported font they will be on same height so ’ will not be on bottom of the line (in image)
Look
Which is which?
Cause what you see here is , ’ and "
Like WTF?
What i do in that case is just open image atlas in some image editor
Change draw red line on one of them and now i can tell which is which ingame
So it will require some trail and error testing
BUT in the long run it feels way faster than build whole font from scratch
Where i suggest building font from scratch when you cannot find font with all characters you gonna use or size of your font do not match any font you found
Well choice is up to you
GL
I’m just did the part where I take all of the character images separately, how do I use SnowB to make a font file out of them?
That is explained in tutorial
Since I made the font myself it seemingly wouldn’t let me move the sharp slider, but this is what it generated
I’m not sure if it’s usable, but there’s a .fnt I exported along with it
I tried using the image shown and the font file it came with but there’s the huge gap between lines
It’s not much of a problem as (at lease for now) I’m not gonna be using more than 1 line but if I could fix it now I don’t have to later
Sharp slider works only when you convert from ttf to bitmap
I mean its for adjusting sharpness of bitmap font since that is vector graphic
Gap between each character when you create your own font from images
Is dictated by how much empty space you leave on the image to left and right of character
If you look closely there is no gap between my characters
Cause each of them AS IMAGE takes as much space as they are
Well ok some characters have empty space but that i adjust manually before exporting to snowb
Its explained in adjust/edit your font section
I meant that there was a huge gap between the lines. If you look at the image, the default text’s first line is a bit above the top of the scene and the bottom like in just under it.
I tried a 3 line text and the same gap was between lines 2 and 3
I tried making the line height something small like 20 (by creating a new font file) and nothing changed
And what if you set it to -20 ?
I get the same result
Upload your font somewhere and paste link to it here
Where can I do that?
