How to retrieve a SCORE variable to use it in other software?

I would like to integrate a game into another software: Storyline and unlock the sequel thanks to the score of the game. For that I have to make the variables communicate with each other. Do you know the function to use to retrieve the variable?

You probably want to save it to a file using the filesystem extension to a place known to both softwares.

No idea, I can call a java to make the connection. Could this be enough? You just need the name of the function to call.
