Okay, so the comment I just posted was a little bit too long, so I deleted it, and decided to summarise what I said in bullet points:
Always credit yourself in-game so people can find you
The websites probably stole an iframe of your game, there is a single image upload by ZeroX4 that some what proves this
You could deactivate the specific build of your game the iframe is using to make your game unplayable on those websites, but I haven’t tested that method
I only recently saw this thread, so apologies for the late reply. Sadly, I can’t help in this situation (since I myself am still learning about how to keep a game safe from theft), however, after reading this particular reply to Kruger, I wanted to at least provide a response to your inquiry, ZeroX4:
Short answer - Kruger is completely justified in being upset that their game was stolen, especially if they weren’t credited on the other websites.
Long answer - Kruger worked hard on making their game and that hard work should, at the very minimum, be respected by not being stolen (i.e. taken without consent and not giving credit). Yes, you could say that their work was impactful enough that someone else thought it was a good idea to take it and upload it somewhere else BUT it would only be beneficial to Kruger if that work still has their name on it. If it doesn’t, then no one on these other websites will know who actually made it and will logically assume that it was the person who uploaded it there. It’s even worse if the thieves made money off of the game. We live in a time where things get reshared/reposted all the time, and that’s one thing, but to have your work taken without permission and without even a mention about who originally made it, that’s not cool. Plus, even if Kruger was credited, they still retain the right to not want their game posted to places they didn’t consent to.
Anyway, I hope that made sense and helps to clarify anything. Of course, Kruger may step in to provide further insight.
I don’t know how do that but it would be very useful in GDevelop (by crypted manner) to have the possibility to entry in the game (before publishing) the list of site where the download of the game is legal.
So, if the game is downloaded outside of permitted site, the game would not work!
I want be sure to well understand.
What exactly do this extension?
Verify on which material (platform like Android, PC, etc.) the game is played or which site the game is played?
Basically, it checks for the URL of the website it is hosted on. You can set a condition that if the game is on a certain website, then the game will let you continue playing, and if the game is on any other website, you can set the game to block the player from playing the game. You can also use this as an opportunity to direct the player to official releases of your game.
