[JULY 2026 STATE OF THE GAME] Twardy 2.0 Megathread

yeah but your logo either say 69 or 96, it depends how you wanna read it

It’s supposed to be two nines connected at the middle, and there is no deeper context, but I guess you can read it however you want.

Chapter 3 Status

Almost done with the first Nightly Build of Chapter 3.
I just need a little more time… :expressionless_face:

You’ll like what’s coming next.

The Chapter 3 Kickoff Is OUT NOW!

(In addition, today is my 3rd anniversary since I joined GDevelop Forum!)

It has been nearly a month since Chapter 2 released, and the Chapter 3 Kickoff is here! The Chapter 3 Kickoff is the first Nightly Build for Chapter 3. You can play Twardy 2.0 on Itch or Game Jolt.

The update adds Spawners, health changes, and revamps for every boss.

Which Area Should I Make Next?

In the next Twardy 2.0 Nightly Build, a new area will be added. The are will be from one of 2 options below.

The area that is the least voted will be added later.

  • Wisping Hollows (Alternate route to get out of Spawn)
  • Chaos Atla (First C0rrUPT10N encounter)
0 voters

Wisping Hollows

This area is the alternate route to get to the Megaruin. In the next Nightly Build, you will only be able to escape Spawn if you fight the Bully Walker or go through the Wisping Hollows. The area is filled with Paintbots and Buckos (sentient buckets of paint).

Chaos Atla

This area is an abandoned city full of Bulldings and Strictures (yes, those are the correct spellings of the creatures). This area will also contain your first encounter with C0rrUPT10N.

Goodbye For Now

The past few weeks have been… stressful.

Since Chapter 1, I’ve started to feel that public playtesting has hurt the game more than helping it.

I didn’t fully realize that until now.

The game won’t be deleted… I am just removing public access. In addition, I may disappear from the forum for a few weeks.

Goodbye, GDevelop Forum… for now.

Hi, I hope you weren’t too intimidated by all the criticism! You are very creative and I can tell you put lots of effort into your game!

You have a unique and distinctive art style …this is a good thing! Stay true to what you love and what you enjoy. Having a clear vision and great ambition is a rare and beautiful thing.
but…never be offended by comments/criticism - its always better to have feedback than have no feedback at all.

Oh, you thought I was done posting…

Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game - July 2026

Hello gamers and game developers, I am 99 Studios, and I am here with very important things to announce in the fifteenth (and far from last) Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game post! In case you’re new to Twardy 2.0 or you forgot about it, Twardy 2.0 is a metroidvania game where your job is to destroy the world before it destroys itself. Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game is where I present what happened during the month and what is going to happen next month in Twardy 2.0. This State Of The Game post will contain major information regarding development for Twardy 2.0!

The first and most important thing I want to talk about is the decision to end public playtesting. Since April 2025, all of the game’s updates have been posted publicly. One day, I received a lot of feedback on the game, and it made me realize that the current build of the game doesn’t represent my final vision. I decided to remove public playtesting so I can focus on developing the game without having to constantly produce content to meet expectations. But don’t worry! There will be a public build released sometime in the future… (more on that later.)

The next thing I want to cover is that Twardy 2.0 has recently received a development team! There are currently 10 members (3 developers, 6 playtesters, and me) who have volunteered to help out with the project. If you would like to join, the sign-up form will remain open until August 30, 2026.

Now that I have a development team, more tasks are being done simultaneously. One of those completed tasks was the UI overhaul done by HungThai, the UI developer. Thanks to their efforts, the game’s UI has been optimized and polished. In addition, indicators for what controller button is needed to press a button have been added.

Another thing I need to cover is the next upcoming feature for the game: Requests! Requests is the quest system of the game. In Twardy 2.0, are 2 types of quests: Objectives and Requests. Objectives are required to progress through the game’s story, while Requests are optional side-quests that give you rewards. This feature will be great guidance for first-time players, since Objectives will (roughly) tell you where to go to progress.

The last thing I wanted to talk about is the upcoming demo! Since public playtesting had come to an end before I got to chance to announce this, it makes the demo even more purposeful. Chapter 5 will release as a public demo for the game. It will contain all of Zone 1, and will give players a glimpse of what’s to come. More updates on the demo will release overtime.

Thank you very much for reading this Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game Post. Please stay tuned for more Twardy 2.0 information in the devlog and the State Of The Game post in August! Also, if you have any ideas or feedback about the game or any devlog posts, please post them in the comments of this post!

I have an idea/feedback for your game: knockback on enemies. When you punch them, exert a force in their direction for them to move backwards away from your character a little. Just an idea, feel free to use it or not!

Thank you for that idea! I almost forgot that existed, and it’s a crucial part to game feel, so i’ll add it as soon as i can!
