Just a Little Rant on GDevelop

This morning, I was working on my game. I’ve put in hours on it and was finally happy with the results that I was getting. People from the community have been very helpful, too, as I was able to get answers to questions and problems that I was having.

However, I encountered a problem where GDevelop wasn’t letting me save my work. I tried and tried again to no avail. That’s when I realized that GDevelop updated to a newer version and uninstalled itself (again). I lost all my work and the autosave wouldn’t load either. I know that it could be my fault for not making backups but I just wish that GDevelop didn’t have to uninstall itself every time it updates. Or if possible, have a prompt which asks you to update if the engine is open. That is all. Have a good day. :frowning:

Hi,
Sorry you had trouble with GDevelop.
I think GDevelop only updates when you close it, and yes, for the moment, it takes a full uninstall to perform an update, but this is unrelated to your own projects, only the system files are removed.
If GDevelop somehow refuses to save a project, open your file explorer and save the project folder yourself with a simple copy-paste, before doing anything else.
I also recommend to save your project to a new json file whenever you put some work into it (when I add new features or new levels, I do that).
Cheers.
