My new game: Potion Brew Devlog

Hey everyone. This might seem like shameless self promo (hehe ) but I decided to create a Devlog for my new game : Potion Brew.

I realized the biggest mistake I ever made was not getting my first game out there early enough for feedback so I decided to take my Second serious game for judgement.

This game is loosely inspired by cereal commercials, I dunno why? :four_leaf_clover: Probably because it’s a catch game? And cereals are caught by bowls…(what am I SAYING?)

Anyway I even made a cute little thumbnail haha . I expect to take this game further in the future so I might as well share it right now…

Btw guys

If you decide to play it (please :disappointed_relieved:) I would like honest feedback. Like brutally HONEST feedback. The kind that pokes holes in every fabric of the game. But not too mean (ok?)

I give you :drum: Potion Brew v1

Ok, i give you my comments.

In first place, i find your graphs and assets very pleasant and pro.
I don’t know if they are from you or not but i must say it’s a good choice.

In second, concerning the music and the sounds, i think they are quite well choosen for this type of game (skill game)

Third, speaking of the gameplay, you must add description (or information page) what items the player must take and of course, those not to take.

Thank you for your feedback. Instructions for the game have been given on the description on gd games. It’s quite detailed and I explain what items to avoid like the mushrooms and soap.

The game itself is a catch game which I assume would be pretty easy to understand the controls. Drag the cauldron left and right to catch ingredients.

As for the UI, I’m sorta surprised you like it . Probably because the game is mine, I’m VERY critical of stuff I’ve made and I think it’s cool but not quite there yet. As in not in the style I want it to be.

Potion Brew was initially a pixel game but along the way it became something else…and I kinda like it this way. Then again this is only version 1.0.0 so…

@Phoenix_01
Like I mentioned within another thread: you will probably get the best and honest feedback from your family and friends.

It would be nice if your game has a credits page: who created what? :eye:
In addition the best advantage of a credit page is: that your name is written within the game itself in the case if s.o. will copy your hard work, you know…
(Thinking about the current AI-Zeitgeist, a few people could also ask: “Who or what created what”… But that would might be another complex topic.)

Maybe there are already some games with the name “Potion Brew” outhere in the wild? So I would suggest to change it to another title which will feature an element of the lore which you want to add seemingly; just an example for a title. :test_tube:

In the end I hope that you have a lot of fun creating your game, continue to be creative, good luck. :slightly_smiling_face:
