Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game - March 2026
Hello gamers and game developers, I am 99 Studios, and I am here with very important things to announce in the eleventh (and far from last) Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game post ! In case you’re new to Twardy 2.0 or you forgot about it, Twardy 2.0 is a soul-like game where you can save the world… or do nothing. Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game is where I present what happened during the month and what is going to happen next month in Twardy 2.0. This State Of The Game post will contain very important news for Twardy 2.0 fans!
Before we dive into the latest news, I want to announce that I have been making Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game posts for over a year now. Through those 12 months, the game has become significantly larger and has gained a fanbase larger than I could have ever predicted. This wouldn’t be possible without every who has supported me and you- the reader- taking the time to get to know a game from an underrated unknown developer.
The biggest thing I want to announce is that a Chapter 2 Preview update is releasing across ALL platforms (more on that later) on April 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM PDT | 8:00 PM EDT! Since Chapter 2 has gotten SO massive, I have made this update to give you something while you’re waiting. Also, this update revamps the versioning system (26.01.1 → 0.10.37) to prepare for Chapter 2. For Itch users, I am setting the game back to early access, due to the fact that this game will never be truly “released” until all of the main story is complete, which may take a few more years.
Until now, I have had Twardy 2.0 published on Itch and only Itch. The Chapter 2 Preview update will be the first version to release on both GD Games and Game Jolt! This will help expand the fanbase and reach more players. Future updates (e.g. Chapter 2) will continue to be released on all 3 platforms (Itch, GD Games, & Game Jolt).
On Game Jolt, I have made a Twardy 2.0 Community! On the Game Jolt community, you can view announcements, post fan-art, craft theories, peek at teasers, answer polls, and more! I will regularly post there, and occasionally give behind-the-scenes screenshots/articles! ![]()
Lastly, to help out the GDevelop community, I have made a Spawn Object in Range extension on Itch! With this extension, you can easily spawn objects inside of a random position (float or integer!) or even inside another object. It is completely free, so you can use it in any projects you want for no price.
Thank you very much for reading this Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game Post. Please stay tuned for more Twardy 2.0 information in the devlog and the State Of The Game post in April! Also, if you have any ideas or feedback about the game or any devlog posts, please post them in the Twardy 2.0 Community on Itch!
Coming from someone (me) who has used this extension, it works Amazingly Well once I figured out how to put it to use!!!
Thanks again for letting me have access to it the other day though lol
Nightly builds for Twardy 2.0 are Out NOW!
The first nightly builds for Twardy 2.0 have now released!
In case you don’t know, nightly builds are versions of the game that contain the latest in-development features and are frequently updated. Currently, nightly builds will be released for Chapter 2 updates on Itch and Game Jolt. Expect everything released in a nightly build to be changed by the time of the next stable release. Progress made in Nightly builds may corrupt while transfering to a stable build. It is recommended to report bugs to the Bug-reporting section of the Twardy 2.0 community on Itch.
Thank you for supporting Twardy 2.0!
v0.20.53 Changelog
Here’s the changelog: 0.20.53 Changelog – Twardy 2.0
v0.20.60 - Revamps, New Extensions, and Jeff
Hello, Twardy 2.0 fans!
The second Nightly Build for chapter 2 has released, and several things have been revamped and added! Here are the key takeaways from the update:
Revamps
When you load your save, Mark now teleports to the last used Oracle Shrine (what you use to save). In other words, when you Save & Quit from the pause menu, you now get teleported to the last save point instead of right where you left off, possibly in the middle of nowhere.
In addition, Xp Orbs now have a special collect sound that is different from all the other collectables. The pitch of the sound increased based off of the size of the Xp Orb.
New Extensions
3 new extensions have been made for the game: Tilemap Collision Helper, Punch, and 1 in X! All three optimize the game so you can have a smoother experience.
Jeff?
A new character has appeared beneath the Megaruin! He cowardly runs in circles, and he doesn’t do anything else (for now).
Thank you for reading this devlog post. Please stay tuned for the next Twardy 2.0 nightly build!

Thank you for all of your support. Without you, who knows when I would’ve reached this milestone.
A couple of weeks ago, Twardy 2.0 only had ≈200 plays. Since the beginning of Twardy 2.0’s development, I have been saving up credits. When the Chapter 2 Preview update released, I used almost all of my credits on marketing boosts, and it worked.
Twardy 2.0 has obtained 561 more players in the 17 days it was boosted.
After the boosts I expected to see a slowdown for new players, which I was right, but the numbers still went up: a week later, it went to 900, and today, 1000.
As the Twardy 2.0 community continues to grow, I will continue to update the game with new features and enhancements until everything planned is completed.
Again, thank you for all of your support.
v0.20.72 - New NPCs, Intro Scene, and Bug Fixes
Hello, Twardy 2.0 fans!
The latest nightly build for Chapter 2 has released, and new things have been added! Here are the key takeaways from the update:
New NPC Sprites and Lines
In Twardy 2.0, NPCs have only had 1 sprite. Now, they have 2 more! In addition, new names and dialogue for the NPCs have been created!
Intro Scene
When you start a new game, you will be taken to a new intro scene before entering the mainmap. This has been put here to introduce you to the game’s lore. It will make more sense as the game is developed.
Bug Fixes
In this update, 1 bug from the Twardy 2.0 Community has been fixed: TW2GM-3. Loading the game wouldn’t teleport you to the last used Oracle Shrine, but now, it does!
Thank you for reading this devlog post. Please stay tuned for the next Twardy 2.0 nightly build!
Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game - April 2026
Hello gamers and game developers, I am 99 Studios, and I am here with very important things to announce in the twelth (and far from last) Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game post ! In case you’re new to Twardy 2.0 or you forgot about it, Twardy 2.0 is a souls-like game where you can save the world… or do nothing. Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game is where I present what happened during the month and what is going to happen next month in Twardy 2.0. This State Of The Game post will contain very interesting news for Twardy 2.0 fans!
First of all, I would like to cover what has happened during April. I published 2 nightly builds for Chapter 2, which are basically highly experimental versions of the game containing the latest features. The nightly builds introduced new NPCs, an Intro scene, new extensions, revamps, and bug fixes. In addition, I have updated the Twardy 2.0 Website to make it look better, which I will continue update it in the future**.**
A few days ago, I published the Twardy public archive on GitHub! In case you didn’t know, Twardy is the prequel to Twardy 2.0, but it never got finished due to me losing the files of the game… until now. Apparently, it was just in a weirdly placed folder the entire time (which I will never do again). Instead of working on Twardy, I released it as a public archive (that you can base your game off of) so I could continue working on Twardy 2.0 and have the Twardy code as a keepsake… just in case…
The final thing I want to cover is a brand-new bossfight coming to the game soon: the Stomper! The Stomper will be the boss of Spawn, the latest and beginning area of the game. Don’t be fooled though- the Stomper will have the most health and damage in the game, so I recommend defeating the Souless Queen (or at least the Ruin Ghoul) before hunting the Stomper. The boss’s original assets were created by Goat Shaped Chair for the 99 Studios’s 2nd Pixel Art Contest. Expect the bossfight to release within the next few months, for the game is currently going through a MASSIVE difficulty overhaul (which you will be able to test soon!).
Thank you very much for reading this Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game Post. Please stay tuned for more Twardy 2.0 information in the devlog and the State Of The Game post in May! **Also, if you have any ideas or feedback about the game or any devlog posts, please post them in the Twardy 2.0 Community on Itch!**
Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game - May 2026
Hello gamers and game developers, I am 99 Studios, and I am here with very important things to announce in the thirteenth (and far from last) Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game post ! In case you’re new to Twardy 2.0 or you forgot about it, Twardy 2.0 is a soulslike game where you can save the world… or do nothing. Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game is where I present what happened during the month and what is going to happen next month in Twardy 2.0. This State Of The Game post will contain new announcements and highlights for Twardy 2.0 fans!
First of all, I would like to cover what has happened over this month. In May, I created 8 nightly builds for Chapter 2! Over that time, the game went from build 72 to build 111! The game has changed so much since the very first build of the game, and build 100 is the first milestone, proving the dedication I have for this game.
The nightly builds added and changed a TON of features, but here are the key highlights:
- A new sub-area of Spawn (the Stomping Grounds)
- A new boss (Thumper)
- A new currency (Coppens)
- A complete combat overhaul
- The entire game has been buffed
- Hunger, thirst, and farming have been removed
- The logo has gone through many revisions
In addition, on gd.games, Twardy 2.0 has more than quintupled its amount of plays! Twardy 2.0 now has over 1,200 plays! Thank you all so much for your support as Twardy 2.0 continues to grow.
The next thing I want to cover is that I have been planning the rest of the game! Until a few weeks ago, I only had a plan for up to Chapter 4 (v0.41.XXX). Now**, I have a rough outline of all the chapters,** which will have 100+ bosses, 80+ areas, and many new abilities! So you don’t get bored, more development information will release on Game Jolt as time passes.
The last thing I want to announce is the next features coming to Chapter 2. The long-awaited Zebtibiver bossfight is coming (with a Soulus appearance!) and there will be a Coppens penalty when you die, which you can get your Coppens back after you find your soul. These features will release during the month, so stay tuned for updates!
Thank you very much for reading this Twardy 2.0 State Of The Game Post. Please stay tuned for more Twardy 2.0 information in the devlog and the State Of The Game post in June! Also, if you have any ideas or feedback about the game or any devlog posts, please post them in the Twardy 2.0 Community on Itch!
bro im #zebtibiver4life
Makes since. He was created before the others, and he will have 2 more forms in future chapters. My personal favorite is the Thumper, for it has the most advanced AI in the game so far.

These are just loading images… definitely not leaks…
“Is it a leak if the developer leaked it?”
-william shakespeare, or something
also, advanced in what way?
Is is technically not a leak, but I call it that anyways because it sounds more exciting than “reveal”.
