OGG vs. MP3 TRACKS
For those of you who need looping tracks, I would highly recommend using the Ogg versions of my tracks. Besides sounding richer, Ogg tracks loop better in game engines. The reason for this is that the MP3 encoding process sometimes discards a tiny amount of audio information at the looping point. This causes a noticeable audio gap when the track loops. Mp3 encoding doesn’t do this every single time, but it does it enough to be annoying. Ogg encoding doesn’t discard any audio information so tracks always loop seamlessly.
In terms of audio quality, the MP3 versions of my tracks do sound very good…that’s because the synthesizers I use are all top-of-the-line and produce very high quality sound. Still, the Ogg versions sound even better…almost as good as the original WAV recordings right out of my synths…but are much smaller in file size. WAV files are enormous.
My recommendation is to use my MP3 tracks as placeholders and then replace them with my Ogg tracks once you’ve decided which music you want to use.

OTHER NEWS:
I’m considering replacing all of my MP3 tracks with WAV tracks since the quality is higher. I know the file size of WAV files is very large, (especially for game developers,) but you could convert them to whatever format you like, like Ogg, Flac, etc. Anyhow, I’m trying it on my Fantasy 1 page. If anyone is interested, feel free to give them a try and let me know what you think.
I’m also working with a new keyboard synthesizer which is a beast but should open up a whole new world of sound creation.

Upgrading to WAV for higher quality is a good move, and the flexibility to convert to various formats is a smart approach.

Yeah, the main reason I’ve been uploading MP3 files has to do with file size limitations set forth by my web hosting company. Large file sizes were a problem with my longer non-looping tracks…they were just too large in WAV format. A lot of my looping tracks are shorter, though, and fit within the size limitations, even as WAV files. Plus, I like the idea that WAV tracks always loop perfectly “out of the box” so to speak, without requiring developers to do any editing. Anyhow, thanks for the feedback!

Using mp3 to circumvent file size limitation is indeed an appropriate action. Correct me if I’m wrong but that exact limitation is the main reason why mp3 file size exists.
