[Solved] How do I read local files on a Mac using Version 1.0.208 (208)?

Total GDevelop newbie here.
I have a game that I bought from someone. I downloaded it, but when I do a file → open, it only shows me cloud options of projects, not files stored on my Mac:

I read that if you’re using the web version, it will only show you cloud projects. I’m definitely using the desktop version on my Macbook Air. But it won’t even show me a path to opening a project on my computer. Is this a bug?

Thanks.

Here’s an image showing the desktop version and that it doesn’t recognize my local file system.

I updated to the latest version of GDevelop 5.5.242-mobile which is where I see that “mobile” is in the name. So it’s defaulting to the cloud and the app store also mentioned this versions isn’t verified for MacOS. It said it’s for the iPad. Since I’m on a Macbook Air laptop, I’m guessing these things won’t work…

Hey! Did you download GDevelop from the App Store? If you did, that is exactly why this is happening. GDevelop on the App Store is only meant to be used on iPhone and iPad, not Mac OS. If you would like the Mac OS version that most likely work better on your laptop & fix that problem, you can find it here. Try GDevelop | GDevelop

When you get to this site, do not click download on the App Store, instead click on the apple symbol. :apple:

When you click that it should download the Mac Version of GDevelop! Make sure you have the other one uninstalled other wise you might get confused which is which!

Snowy, thank you so much! That fixed all of my problems. I’m now able to open stuff from my computer AND the .json loaded with no issues. (I spent hours asking chatGPT, searching the web etc, asking AI…)

Appreciate you!! Thanks!

No worries! Sorry that you spent hours on it! If there is anything else I can do to help, feel free to let me know!
