So im not sure maybe i misunderstood how to use this, but this screenshot means that it wont extend the game size to fit the screen.
But this one means it
will right?
Well for me, it works the other way around?

What i mean is that it only fits the entire screen when im not extending the screen size, this happens with all of my games.
Hey!
I personally also struggled with this on ALL of my game templates recently.
Turns out, it works best if you set it to NOT extend at all, and it will instead add black bars around the outside of the screen (which is better then zooming in and ruining the game!)
Edit: Now I gotta go back and swap out every game template just to fix this…
Edit 2: I just realized you (probably) already knew this, and this wasn’t in the How Do I category…

Oh? when i (used to) watch helper Weasley’s tutorial he always did the extending one. So it zooms? i thought it like this for example you are expanding the size of your window like this screen shot.
the game’s entire screen will fit in the box. if its not set (the expanding setting) it (is
supposed) to be like this.
but those settings are switched around.

Yep that seems normal. Is there a problem you were having?
Let me just double check we are on the same page:
Extending will extend the height of the game so it will NEVER show black bars on the top or bottom.
Not extending will add black bars to fill in the empty space.

Exactly, so is it not supposed to be the other way around?
(forgive me if I’m wrong but im finding this very confusing)

Same. I’m also finding this confusing.
Could you send screenshots with what each one looks like for you, and I’ll send for me, and we can compare?
Screenshots on my laptop are just being annoying right now
!
I’ll explain with emojis.
No changes to game size:

GAME

Extend width or height to fill screen (without cropping the game area)
GAME GAME GAME
GAME GAME GAME
GAME GAME GAME
Hopefully this was somewhat helpful. If not I’ll keep trying to send SS.

The white bar here is the part in the editor with nothing in it.

yes 100% but shouldn’t it be the opposite?
Not really… those are the correct descriptions for each.
I’ll explain, one sec…
These settings in GDevelop are NOT talking about the size of the game on your screen, they are talking about how much of the ACTUAL GAME is visible. If you put a box in every corner of your game screen, and set it to no changes to game size, no matter what you do, you will always still be able to see those 4 boxes at the 4 corners of the screen. If you change it to extend, then when you do what I did in my screenshots, it extends the height of the screen, so now only 2 of the 4 boxes are at the corners, the other 2 are floating somewhere in the middle! It’s kind of like slime. When you squish it, instead of being 1 bunch in the middle, it goes super thin but super tall!
