Why do you choose that as nickname?

Hello everybody!

I had the idea to ask to you why we choose a particular nickname on this forum and not another.

For me, i wanted to take Amiga54 but i made an error during creating my count and i had to choose an other nickname nearest of the last (Amigo54)

Amiga54 because i had 2 Amiga (A500 then A1200)

And you?

PS: if the reason of the choice is personal, of course you can not to give a response.

I took MrMen because it brings back memories. 30 years ago my brother-in-law started a screen printing business in his parent’s garage. Some of the Mr Men characters were on the T-shirts he printed, and that name has been stuck in my head for the last few decades.

My brother had an Amiga 500 – great graphics and sound at the time. I had an Atari 800XL, and then an Amstrad 128.

Hi MrMen!

It’s funny how a remembrance can be persistent in the mind of people, particulary when you are young.
It’s true that they are pretty, these men!

Thank for your response.

PS: and for my other pseudo (Xierra), it’s an another history…

I personally go by the nickname “Joshington”, because it’s a take on Washington D.C., and that’s where the White House is located, plus my other nickname, Josh. Not that it’s related to history and all that, I just think it sounds funny.

Thank Josh for your response.

Nice story and great topic!

For me I have Static in my name because I am always full of electricity like when you touch someone you zap them. It’s from the fabric brushing together to create that static charge and I always happen to have it and so that’s how that part became in my nickname.

Yeti is chosen because it’s one of my favorite creatures, plus I always joke about how fast my hair grows even when cutting it.

That’s how my nickname was born. Simple stuff really but I like it

It’s very original as answer, I must say and I didn’t expect it at all!

Static as electric, i didn’t think at that because the word ‘static’ is near of the french word ‘statique’ which shows one thing motionless .

Thank for your answer Ryan.

Hello, Amigo54!

Nice explanations so far! Unfortunately mine is nothing special. I wanted to create the name for my game that included a wizard protagonist. I thought then that Rasterisko would be cool. And Rasterisko was really supposed to be the name of the game but not the name of the wizard character. But all my friends inevitably understood that the name was the character’s. In the end the game didn’t go ahead, hahaha, and now I intend to use the name to create my google account for publish games, GDgames etc.

Great topic, I’m enjoying seeing why everyone picked their nickname.

Mine is nothing special. I had just started using GDevelop and was blown away by my first crude attempt at a game. It seemed impossible to me that a complete computer klutz like myself could create something like this! I felt so lucky that I had stumbled onto GDevelop, and that I lived in times like this where tools such as GDevelop were available, and for free! So I had come to the forum to ask a few questions and needed a nickname, I put Lucky J because I was feeling lucky and my name starts with a J. They didn’t allow spaces though, so I changed it to Lucky-j even though that looks extremely ugly to me.

@MrMen: Somehow I have tiny figurines of “Mr Bump” and “Mr Greedy” but I really can’t remember why.

Nickname? My one is an acronym: if one looks real close, one will figure out.

I use my nickname “99 Studios” because I wanted to use the words “99” and “Studios” in a name (IDK why)

Is Ambytar an acronym for American Made Baby Yeti Tobias Arpad Raß?

Well I guessed the tar but how on earth did you come up with the rest of it?

@MrMen:
Haha  “Art and Music by” with a silent “and” :hugs:

Well, I started using my username on Instagram first when I started learning pixel art. It was actually my (then) boyfriend who suggested “mental bloxx” because 1) I’m a writer and writer’s block is a thing and 2) pixel art uses squares lol

I’ve been using it ever since. I actually like writing it as “mental.bloxx” with the period in the middle, but not every platform allows certain (or any) special characters in usernames.
