I’m a guy that’s just about to enter college, i like gaming and i really like gaming and ham pizza but my fam is poor so i can’t afford a console or a good pc and i should be working instead but… I got addicted to game developing on 2017.
I entered a Scratch course on elementary school, i was not able to finish my football game back then, but i loved the experience, after that, since i didn’t have a pc, i got into game developing in my phone using Pocket Code, a mobile game engine similar to Scratch.
In Pocket Code, i started getting the hands on game developing, did some games here and there, and i am a Sonic The Hedgehog fan so i couldn’t live to see myself without making a Sonic fangame, i did “Sonic: The runner prime engine” and “Sonic Pocket X” in Pocket Code, both probably part of the best Sonic fangames in Pocket Code.
Then the awesome thing happened, the government gave us school pc’s!!! (and they honestly suck, 4gb ram, 100gb storage and 1.1ghz CPU) i still used Pocket Code when i got it, then coronavirus happened and blah blah the end of the society and the start of anxiety, almost in the end of quarantine, something magic happened.
I found out a very easy pc game engine, better than scratch, called GDevelop and it is awesome, it was back in December 2021 that i picked up the engine and it’s discord server and allat.
Did some sonic fangames:
One called Sonic Frontline
- This one was technically my start on this engine.
Another one called Sonic GD
- This has been my biggest game and fangame, and it’s my “magnum opus” or something called like that, it was the first time i got to replicate the classic sonic physics in GDevelop, something i didn’t see that much in GDevelop.
And i’m currently doing one called Sonic Volt
- This one is the most ambitious sonic fangame i’ve worked on.
I also did a sonic extension called Sonic Develop, it was clunky but i remaked it and now it’s the Hedgehog Platformer extension.
I love game dev but i’ll miss it since i am leaving soon.
