Retired at 43 and want to write games. I have dabbled in everything from SDL to Unreal, and included GDevelop simply as a boxed that needed to be ticked. I found it strangely compelling. It isn’t ‘no code’ in the same way the Scratch might be considered ‘no code’. At the same time it eliminates everything that is frustrating about Godot without sacrificing any functionality, at least as far as I can tell at this stage of my GDE rabbit hole.

I taught Scratch to my kids because of a coin toss. Major regret.

Hi Rikus and welcome.

Thanks for sharing your experiences so far, very interesting. Are you still experimenting with other engines? Are there engines on your list that you haven’t tried yet but will try?

Here’s something that one of the users said a while back which I found very interesting.

I love GDevelop and have no plans to try anything else although sometimes I think about it haha. If you have any more thoughts about your experiences with GDevelop and other engines, I’m sure I won’t be the only interested reader.

Welcome Rikus!

I suppose you was a member of the military.
