Carrots Game Engine is Here

I then decided to ask the AI about your project. The AI says that there is a 95% chance that your project has viruses, and that not providing the original engine could result in a lawsuit.

I am activating a delay in response times to make messages more constructive, thoughtful, and less repetitive.
Take advantage of the delay to do other things instead of getting worked up with each other.

i tried it, it flagged some alarms at first but after opening it the antivirus said it was safe

games made IN gdevelop also flag as a virus when installing them

I checked the open source code, It does not have any viruses
but I think this game engine is a bit better than original GDevelop it reminds me of Godot 3.6 (:

@samibrahim I come from modding games where, you have to turn off anti-virus to use the mods without Microsoft removing it. That doesn’t mean it’s a virus game engine. And i’ll say this, yeh you a got past but i’ll not judge you of that and say all your work is a virus and you shouldn’t be trusted etc.

I tried the engine and it does the job well TBH, there were few things where Gdevelop doesn’t have. I don’t understand the concern for security when every site and app already collects tons of info you without you even knowing.

@kotiks Ion about you lil dude but, engine looks fine. Shoot, you tried it yet? If not, try it then spill your thoughts around. Ever heard the phrase, don’t discourage things till you truly know, it ain’t good. You sound more like a hater TBH

Ey, it’s fine if you don’t trust him but openly saying it’s virus without trying and seeing wuts up? That just sounds like how Google is planning to lock down android system by 2027, and say it’s for security.

Thank you

I don’t really understand why some people are trying to damage my reputation by bringing up things from my past. It is true that I hold a personal stance against homosexuality, and there are other situations that were misunderstood. I have already apologized for those misunderstandings, yet the attacks on the engine continue for what seem to be personal reasons.

I still hope that, one day, their perspective will change. I don’t hate any of them.

HAHAHAHAH
I swear this is comedy gold

I just want to say i am not gonna take part in this circus
BUT i wanna remind you
IN TOPIC
In which its author mr carrot studio i got banned from gdevelop discord for how i insulted and harassed other ppl OVER 10 TIMES making new account after each ban
Try to convince others that his fork is legit

MAGICALLY

We have 2 new users who randomly just decided to test something and claimed its safe

H

My job is done here
When jokes write themselves

@Boy.developer
I gonna paste here screenshot of your message so you cannot edit it

And show it to any users on discord
So they are aware how you are defending someone who actively and with premeditation insulted their friends/loved ones and maybe even family members

brother i’ve been in the discord for almost a year, you have answered multiple of my questions on the discord, i’m making a fnaf fangame and posting pseudo regular updates on the wip channels

i’ve had this account inactive for months while looking for answers in the forums, he asked me to come confirm that my pc didn’t explode on dms, it’s my first post, but that doesn’t mean that i just made the account

Fake reply

Hey, this conversation is getting really annoying. I was trying to see what he made, but because of all this talking, I couldn’t. He needs to explain the engine to us more. I tried it and it worked perfectly, but I still don’t understand everything. I found no viruses in the engine when I tested it. I would like its owner to explain and share more about it. And I hope so, [@ZeroX4 ] Remain silent for a moment, as your arguments are not strong enough to counter his, and let him explain what he did, because we are interested.

This is 66th message here and he did not explain what he did so far
From which only 4 are mine
So idk why i should be silent when he had every single chance to explain everything he possibly could
And yet ANOTHER first time poster is implying something here

You are another first time poster advocating for mr carrot studio

Doesn’t look shady at all

Ibrahim keep doing what you are doing
This is going well
I don’t even need to do anything here

I just gonna explain it same way i explained it to Veteris on discord
Cause even so he is 1st time poster he was for long time on discord

Customer: Can you prove your app is legit?
Seller: Yeah, let me ask friend in DM’s to come here and confirm it is legit

Hahahahha

And just to be clear

I have NOTHING to win here
I won’t come here and fight any1 cause this circus gonna run on its own without my help
There are only some ppl who can lose something here
And i am not one of them

Look up the EXPIRO virus on the internet. It’s a very dangerous virus that’s very well hidden. I won’t check it out because I don’t need any more viruses. I also don’t like being deceived. He didn’t write the name of the original engine or mention the creators of the original engine, as if he did it all himself (and he didn’t mention that a lot of it was done with the help of AI).
I’d rather trust other honest and powerful programming engines.

First of all, you’re accusing the engine of being infected without any actual evidence, while many people have already used it without any issues. Throwing around the name of a virus like “EXPIRO” doesn’t prove anything especially if you’re not even explaining how it applies here.

Second, if you genuinely believe this kind of virus exists in the engine, then by your own logic it would also exist in GDevelop itself, since both rely on the same Electron-based structure. That argument simply doesn’t hold up technically.

Third, regarding credits if you had actually checked the repository, you would clearly see that the core is credited to the original team. That’s exactly how it should be. I’d recommend reading the MIT license properly; understanding it helps avoid these kinds of assumptions.

Finally, if you prefer other engines, that’s completely your choice. Good luck with that. As for us, we’re focused on building something practical and usable for real production.

take a look Guys Far from his problems , everyone we’ve added multiple new material options, and now we have a metallic material. What do you think of it? Currently, it can be applied to boxes and any non-3D model objects.

Why would we hide anything? I’ve actually tried the engine myself. I’m not part of the team, and I don’t know them personally I’m just a user sharing my experience.

Accusing my account of being fake without any evidence doesn’t make your argument stronger. If you have real concerns, bring actual proof or try the project yourself before attacking it.

At the end of the day, we’re just people testing something and sharing our feedback nothing more.

This thread is going weird places, so rather than dealing with the metacommentary I am going to add historical context based on fact:

  • The OP of this post has been banned from the GDevelop discord numerous times, and continually ban evaded (both against Discord TOS and GDevelop Discord TOS)
  • They have regularly misrepresented why they were banned each time. The most recent time they were banned for ban evasion and what amounts to hate speech.
  • They have directly misrepresented other people’s work as their own in the past, and made claims of working with people who had no knowledge of them.
  • They are not welcome back in the GDevelop discord community, period, so take whatever they post here with a grain of salt.
  • The project posted here violates the MIT license as they did not properly fork the engine then did not attribute the GDevelop project. Attribution is a specific requirement of the MIT license. Not forking is “fine” (if slightly unusual), not attributing the code is not.

All of the above said; while the OP themself is not trustworthy for the above reasons, this does not mean the code is malicious. If you are reading this and are interested in trying the project please feel free to do so, but do so with proper caution.

and if you don’t have any problem with it when we make video about the engine we will said that engine built on Gdevelop game engine core if u have any proplem with this words say to us what u want and we’d be happy to do that

Omg this is really comedy gold
I think i hit jackpot here
I needed to check calendar twice to be absolutely sure its not my birthday

Where i said anything about hiding something?

As it was mention here mr carrot studio got banned over 10 times on discord making new accs each time and who knows how many accs he actually made and did not get them banned?
So i am more willing to assume any new poster here is alt acc
Than legit ppl MAGICALLY appearing out of blue
Mr carrot studio totally earned it

At least now we know you guys did not pop up out of blue
You were asked to come here
This is literally conflict of interest
Same way as sponsor blocks on youtube “buy SomeVPN to secure your data today”
You are not different than that then

Where at the same time i literally said NOTHING about engine itself
So i have no idea how incompetent you need to be to even imply i attacked engine itself

BUT
Please go on
Cause if mr carrot studio will not make ppl turn away from him
Then ppl like you totally will
Who accuse others of something that did not take place

You pretending 3 new posters popping up here is totally normal and not suspicious or shady
Is like
Ehh just let everyone draw their own conclusions
Like i said i don’t need to do anything here
This circus will run totally fine on its own
I will just jump in to clarify any message that try to de rail from facts and imply something that did not take place

I genuinely wish everyone to enjoy every single message in this topic
I for sure do

This mention is barely noticeable. You’re trying not to mention the original at all. It would be better if you wrote:

Carrot Game Engine - A fork of GDevelop 5

(created by a suspicious author who was banned hundreds of times on the original engine's forum for violating the rules.)

This would be honest (and the brackets would be fun!)

ZeroX4, this is the first time I've agreed with many of your posts! I didn't think I'd say that...

Correction on my behalf about the attributing, thanks @Boy.developer for pointing it out. Adding an update here since edits are restricted.

Please note that the current verbiage is still not correct attribution but far better than what I had found (or lack thereof due to searching via github search rather than just ctrl+f).

It’s currently presented as if the code in the engine is still maintained by the GDevelop team. Proper attribution would be something like

" * The Core library, the native and HTML5 game engines, the IDE, and all extensions (respectively Core, GDJS, newIDE and Extensions folders) are originally based on the GDevelop project source code as provided under the MIT license by the GDevelop team." This is not something that need sto be exact, just an example.

This is important, because you as didn’t fork the project you will not get any updates from the main project as they occur, so you’ll have to maintain those aspects yourself manually. This means the code on those aspects are based on the original project but no longer maintained by the GDevelop team nor will they match as updates happen on either side.

Also note: Unfortunately, unless you completely rebase your github project, or manually go through the process to modify your origin (Which can be extensive and time consuming without redoing all your changes), that github relationship is permanently broken so you’ll always remain with the old source code

Hi Carrots team, I realise you have mentioned GDevelop in the correct place on your GitHub page. But what bothers me is that it’s the ONLY place you mention GDevelop. Your itch page with a download link has a lot of nice things to say about Carrots engine but currently NO mention of GDevelop. I assume you’re not required to mention it but I’m not interested in the legal side of things. I am interested in doing the right thing. Giving credit where it’s due is the right thing to do. And not doing so is a mark against your reputation. You should be proud that you’ve added things to GDevelop instead of hiding it. I believe that your motives are good, but hiding the truth is not a way to earn people’s trust.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback we truly appreciate it :gift_heart:

You’re absolutely right about the importance of giving proper credit, and we fully respect that perspective. Based on your point, we’ve now made sure to clearly and fully include GDevelop in the appropriate places.

We’re proud of the work built on top of it, and our intention has never been to hide that, but rather to continue improving and expanding upon it. Your feedback genuinely helps us do better, so thank you for taking the time to point it out.
