Mate that’s looking real smooth! Loving the transparency for walking behind trees and the different ground types you’ve done! That 8-directional movement and sprite updates is sweet-as too! Seeing the FPS hitting constant 55+ makes it all the more brill.

RPG’s have got to be one of the more complicated games to make too, kudos to you for shouldering its associated burdens! Looking forward to seeing more from ya!

P.S Definitely try keeping that ice floor for a part of your game, seeing the main character wriggle like that on the ice was an excellent touch!

Thank You So Much

Im probably gonna keep the ice id just like it to have a purpose besides slow you down?
if you have any ideas on how to make the ice unique id really appreciate it

No worries bud, glad to give some advice!

For ice I suppose it’s usually used in two ways: making the character slip along with a reducing momentum (like in Mario on icey blocks) until they stop, or to force the character to slide along at a given angle until they hit an obstacle like a wall.

For general behaviour you could see youtube clips like mario’s ice world in the games for examples of slipping mechanics, and checking out Pokemon Gold/Silver for the sliding gimmick they used in the Ice Tunnel area (quite fond of this one to be fair haha!).

Oh, you could also add damage tiles like icicle spikes that damage the player a lil’ if they happen to slide/slip/fumble into them! Or add items off of the beaten track that the player could slide to in a puzzley way! Definitely check out some ice examples though for previous games, should help!

Edit: Forgot to say too, you can combine some of the above elements, like sliding block puzzles, pushing the blocks and they slide along the ice and only stop until they hit a wall or obstacle with the goal of getting the block to a specific area. To see some examples check out the Ice Cavern from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on youtube - it uses some examples of sliding ice block puzzles haha!
