Expanse Space RPG game devblog vol.1
famous scifi quote “All these worlds are yours except Europa. Attempt no landing there.” Arthur C. Clarke, 1982.
A quick summary of the core gameplay features:
-
This is an MMORPG mobile/browser game with asynchronous player movement. Players inhabit a living, persistent world. They can trade, build, scavenge, travel, and discover elements in that same world. They can see where they are and interact with each other as they would in a normal MMO. However, this is not in real time (actions are turn-based; see below for more information).
-
Login System: Each player can fly one ship at a time with one account. However, they can use an automated ship to assist them with travel and other activities. Of course, players can use different ships for different activities. (See the Eve Online example.)
- Game world is shown as an 2d board where the player can move (fly) their spaceships and do game activities.
-
Game is “ship-centric”; spaceship is the player’s main character in the game. Player moves it on a space system (mostly the Solar System).
-
-
You can scan other players and find them on the map in real time, allowing you to interact with them (trade, fight NPCs, fight in PvP, etc.).
-
I will stop here for now. This is a basic information thread about the game I’m working on.
The next information will be more about the other core elements, but one step at a time. If anyone has any questions, is interested, or has any ideas, please comment and let me know. I’m doing this game as a hobby, not for commercial purposes.

disclaimer
This devblog will provide more information about the game and help you decide whether it’s right for you. Additionally, I’m posting some visuals from an early prototype of the game, but please remember that nothing is final at this point.
this is pretty freaking awesome
Just looking at those pictures make me feel exited!
This looks genuinely interesting
@zGameCreator It’s “Excited” you illiterate idiot.
Rich - come on! I know this sort of thing irritates you but it’s really not needed.
you and Zero are like an unstoppable force vs a unmovable object
Hey,
First of all, check the Reddit page of my project too → ExpanseSpaceRpg - reddit.
Another update. Lately, I’ve been focusing mainly on UI/UX to give players clear information about what’s happening around them.
As you can see, the ship movement UI has been simplified.
However, there’s still too much information on the screen, and I’ll be working on simplifying it even further.
Here You have quick gif how orbit change look like. Here are two gif. how change orbit works.
Ap cost 100 is too high now and will be adjusted later. (100 ap is like 2 minutes wait)

Unfortunately, I can’t add the films here, so check out my TikTok below.

The next item on the to-do list is the targeting and attack system. For both players and NPCs: “seek and destroy.”
Let me know what you think! Thanks!
…if you insult people on the forum for such minor things, people won’t be as interested in your game you know. Politeness will get you further!
nah i support em its hilarious
Is this sarcasm..?..or not
is some random dude named rich saying “its ‘excited’ you illiterate idiot” to another random person, randomly, not inherently hilarious? In fact, it kinda feels like a joke itself. and well if it isnt, then just ignore him, and let yourself get a laugh out of it. Theres worse things on this forum, and we all know zgamecreator isnt an idiot anyway
also all their other replies seem like theyre a perfectly normal, and helpful part of this community.
Well yeah its funny I guess if you say it like that, I guess it depends on the tone in which it was meant, in a joking way, yeah its funny. Of course everyone knows @zGameCreator isn’t an idiot!
Thanks guys
but rich just has his own way of replying lol, if he didn’t i probably would have made the same mistake later.
