Game runs fine in Mac OS very slow in Windows

Hi I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this -

I have a game I’m making in Mac OS is runs great there but in Windows on the same computer (it’s a intel based iMac with dual boot) it runs unplayably slow. Any ideas what could cause this and how to remedy the problem?

Thanks

Might be Windows not using your dedicated gpu for running your game.

How to change graphics setting for an app

How to Change Default Graphics Card in Windows 11

Changing the default graphics card in Windows 11 ensures that your applications use the most powerful graphics card available. This can lead to better performance and an overall smoother experience. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open Settings

First, open the Settings app by pressing the Windows key + I.

To start, you need to access the Settings app. Pressing the Windows key + I is a quick shortcut that takes you directly there.

Step 2: Navigate to System

Next, click on the “System” option in the Settings menu.

The System tab houses many important settings, including the ones we need to change the graphics card.

Step 3: Go to Display

After clicking System, choose “Display” from the left-hand menu.

The Display settings are where you’ll find options to customize your screen, including selecting which graphics card to use.

Step 4: Scroll Down to Graphics Settings

Scroll down until you find “Graphics settings” and click on it.

The Graphics settings option is usually near the bottom. This is where you can manage settings for individual applications.

Step 5: Choose an App to Set Preferences

Click “Browse” to add an app or choose one from the list already provided.

Whether you want to add a new app or change settings for an existing one, this step lets you specify which graphics card to use.

Step 6: Set Graphics Preference

Select the app, click “Options,” and then choose between “Power saving” (uses integrated graphics) or “High performance” (uses dedicated graphics).

This is the main step where you assign the desired graphics card to the application, maximizing either performance or battery life.

Once you complete these steps, your chosen applications will use the designated graphics card for better performance or power saving, depending on your preference.

Sorry I should have added I tried it on my work computer as well with the same problem. Plus I do play games in Windows I imagine they wouldn’t run well if that was the problem. I did check though it is pointing at the proper graphics card. Thanks

I use windows, it runs fine

I’m talking about a game I’m developing I know gdevelop runs fine in windows I’m wondering if there is an issue with something made on a mac in gdevelop running in windows

While I can’t give guidance on what would be causing the issue you are seeing, I can say that the exported GDevelop project (or even a non-exported GDevelop project) doesn’t know care (or even know) what OS it was made from, so there shouldn’t be any way for it to care if it’s running in Windows after being made on a Mac.
