Hello, I'm Nairisz (I need help)

Hello, my name is Nairisz and I’m from Malaysia. I’m currently a final year student for IT degree and my final year project is creating a game for reading comprehension with adaptive learning.

I’m truly have ZERO experiences in making game and I’m very lost for where to start since I can’t find many material about drag and drop game. It would be pleasure to have someone or anybody to guide me to complete my project which is due in the end of December or January.

It’s truly my oversight for thinking it’s doable in short months but I’ll try to complete it as the best I can.

Hey!
First of all, welcome to the community!
The best steps to starting game development are to learn the engine and break your game down into smaller pieces.

  1. Learn the engine
Spend some time watching YouTube tutorials made by GDevelop or messing around with the engine until you learn the basics. There are also tons of free templates you can use to learn how different events and mechanics work in GDevelop.

  2. Break your game down into smaller pieces
Once you have your full game idea, feel free to share it on the forums, even reply to this post with it! It doesn’t have to include every single detail of the finished game, but it should include a base of what you want the game to be. Once you have that, break down your idea into smaller pieces and tackle them one at a time. If you can’t figure out something or need help, feel free to use the “How Do I?” category and let people know what you are struggling with. Don’t feel like you need to solve everything on your own, there are tons of people on the forum who are open to helping people like you!

If you have any questions, I am open to going more in-depth and explaining things to you. I hope that your time with GDevelop is positive and you can make the game you want!

Thank you for the warm welcome. From your advice, I think I can see the pictures when I break it down into smaller pieces. Definitely will check out and post on “How Do I?” in the future. Have a nice day
