Hey!
I recently had some ideas for categories on the GDevelop Forum that I could see being very useful! Here are some ideas…
Announcements: This would be really easy to do since GDevelop already posts on here every time there is a new game jam. This category would only be available for Mods to post in, but anyone can reply. There could be a post (copy-paste of the devlog) every time there is a new GDevelop update, that way people can chat about what they like/don’t like about the update. Also, game jam info could be posted here, because why not!
Asset Category: Something like an Asset category would be cool, where people can talk about game assets they’ve created. I know lots of people on here make artwork, templates, tutorials, etc. This would be a nice category to store things like that. It would be especially useful for people who are looking for specific art or sfx or whatever to use, as they can specifically just look in that category instead of having to scroll through everything in the forum.
Edit: The French forum already has “Graphics and Resources”, which is what I was asking for as #2, why doesn’t the English forum have this?
Edit 2: Announcements used to exist for GDevApp, so bringing it back for GDevelop would perfectly fit suggestion #1.
These are just ideas I had.
What does everyone think of these?
I think it’s worth having an announcements category separate to community. Yes, with jam info and GD update info. The automatic updates don’t always work (for me) so it would be good to know when there’s new updates without having to go to github.
Also, occasionally there’s call outs for surveys and feedback participation on new features. If a person doesn’t log in very often or has a break, it would be good to be able to check one category for official stuff and not have non-official stuff cluttering it.
I don’t know why GDevelop doesn’t do surveys more often! Whenever I answer them I feel like I’m contributing to GDevelop! Wait, aren’t I already contributing to GDevelop…hmm.
