[Not a bug] A bug that happens randomly and says to buy subscription and wont go

The bug I found occurs suddenly and prompts me to get the subscription, even though the subscription is optional. I have tried many ways, from creating a new project to reinstalling the game engine, but nothing has worked so far. this game engine is supposed to be free but its forcing me to pay.
Steps to reproduce

  • There isn’t any step because it will come randomly and will not go, and will disturb you for eternity
I just made a platformer template (I used other templates and blank too, but it doesn’t work) and just unloaded a sprite from my downloads folder

pic has been shared too.
This version of GDevelop is: 5.5.237 (editor full version: 5.5.237-1f41749fa356825b53021da9b7ddb0715685432e, core version: 5.5.237-0)

Hi SMM,

Obviously this is not a bug. It is a nudge screen that suggests to get a subscription.

It doesn’t force you to pay because as you can see in your screen shot there is a button “continue anyway”. You can use the functionality without buying a subscription.

I get that this can be annoying but I also understand that the developers of this free engine can use some financial support and thus include some reminders here and there in the engine.

Hi Drona, I would like to tell you that when I tap “Close anyway” then close again in the preview nudge, the nudge telling me to buy the subscription reappears again, if I somehow have inserted a video, you would be able to see that the nudge screen reappears instantly and disallowing me to continue making a game.

Thank you

I just tested this on the web and desktop builds, and cannot reproduce the behavior.

The reminder will pop up as it always has when you do network or debug previews, but clicking continue anyway will have it continue correctly to their previews.

What OS or system are you trying it on? Is it web or desktop?

I am trying it on desktop Windows 10 OS.

Just for confirming that there is no general problem: I am on desktop Windows 10 as well and I can get rid of the nudge screen by clicking the ‘continue anyway’ button. I tried it a few times with the preview over wifi, the debugger etc. and it just works as it should.

In any case you are right that the reappearing nudge screen is not normal. I was able to ‘fix’ some weird behaviors by de- and reinstalling Gdevelop, but you’ve mentioned that you already did that (maybe you could try an older version?). Anyway, I hope Silver-Streak or someone else has a good idea what the problem may be and how it can be fixed.

(Not a bug) now this bug…
