Hopefully someone here could clarify what happened… Earlier today I made my first forum post for help with an issue I was encountering in my game. It was going to be in the “How do I…?” category, which has guidelines on how to format your post so that you can get help. I wrote the post along with screenshots and a GIF and posted it. But before it was officially posted, I received an automated message that my account was on hold until a staff member reviewed my post. This happened between 4pm and 5pm.
A few hours later, I received an email at 8:17pm that everything was cleared and my post went live. Then at 8:54pm I received a notification that my post was flagged as spam, and at 8:57pm I got another notification that my post was removed by a staff member. I have no idea why… I wasn’t advertising anything. I just wanted help and gave as much information as I could. Below is a screenshot of what I had written:
Hello and welcome to the forum. I’m sorry your first experience with it led to such a dramatic and unexpected result. I don’t have any answers to what happened in this particular instance, but just wanting to comfort you that it was probably nothing you did wrong based on the image of your post. A lot of these type of forums have automatic systems in place to protect from spam and bots. It was possibly a regrettable mistake of the system. I have also had my posts occasionally held for review by a staff member before being posted, and I have been a member for a good while. I’m not sure if I’ve had anything flagged as spam, but it’s possible since I don’t read my email. Anyway sorry for the negative experience you have been through and I hope future interaction with this forum proves more successful for you. From the image you shared I would say I would enjoy your questions because you remember to give details.
I spotted this too and was reading the post when it was removed, and don’t see why. There’s nothing that seemed wrong with it. I have asked GDevelop why it was taken down.
Hi MentalBloxx and welcome, I’ve seen first time posters have to do several replies to their post in order to overcome the image limitation for new members. They reply several times each time with an extra image. After they’ve been active members for a while they are no longer limited to one image per post/comment. But somehow the system let you post more than one image so maybe it confused itself and then tried to remove your post.
I looked again at the exact reason written in the logs and it says “posted multiple posts containing the same link” actually, my bad. If you didn’t do that either then I dunno that’s what the system says I wouldn’t be able to tell you why it triggered
That’s really weird… I honestly did not submit my post multiple times.
I tried replying on someone else’s post with links to relevant tutorials, but I was prevented from doing that. I tried hitting the “reply” button twice (since I didn’t understand the error message at first and figured I’d try again before researching what it meant: “Sorry you cannot post a link to that host”), and it only worked once I removed the links. But again, my reply had never been sent once since it was blocked. Soooo… aside from that, I haven’t done anything else.
