PSA: Advertisements on the Forum

Hey everyone!
This is a public service announcement just to let users of the forum understand how some people are advertising on the forum, and what to do. I’ve seen this a lot recently, and some people completely miss what’s happening, so here’s an overview.

(I know this post seems really obvious, but I’ve seen this spam 5+ times on the forum now, so that’s why I’m making a PSA about it.)

AI has become a really useful creative companion in daily work, especially for brainstorming ideas, refining concepts and speeding up repetitive tasks. It doesn’t replace creativity but it definitely helps structure and enhance it.

In games, AI adds another interesting layer by helping analyze patterns, image detection and improve decision-making rather than just relying on trial and error.
There are multiple tools for gaming that I came across with like block blast solver where AI helps break down the board and suggest better move sequences, turning a simple game into a more strategy-driven experience.

If you see a post on the forum like this, it could be an advertisement. Some users are writing posts that seem like a legit response, but are really just there to advertise their website.

Of course, advertising games and etc make with GDevelop is perfectly fine, but advertising random websites that use Ai to solve your “block blaster” level is not allowed on the forum.

What do I do if I come across this?

Simply just flag the post as an advertisement, and the GDevelop team should take action against this.

Yes, that’s a pretty common approach for basic voice activity detection. You can continuously read the microphone input level (RMS/amplitude) and compare it against a threshold. If the loudness stays above a certain value for a short duration, you flip your boolean to true for “speech detected”. Below that threshold = silence/background noise.

One thing to watch out for is that raw loudness alone can be unreliable because keyboard clicks, fans, or random background sounds can also trigger it. A good workaround is adding:
• a minimum duration (like 100–300ms)
• noise floor calibration
• smoothing/averaging on the input signal

Also make sure your mic gain is set properly before tuning thresholds, otherwise you’ll end up chasing false positives forever. A lot of “speech detection bugs” actually come from [common mic issues] (REMOVED LINK) like clipping, low input volume, or noisy hardware rather than the code itself.

This one lasted 17h without being reported, thankfully it has 0 link clicks!

these examples are very clear, but where is the line? is it okay to advertise anything that is (truly) helpful to the gdevelop community or is made in gdevelop?

Yes!

It’s totally fine to advertise your games, tools, assets, etc related to GDevelop.

These spammers post AI on random topics, including links to their websites which are not related to GDevelop at all!

I’m just over here getting a great laugh out of it because it’s so funny to see these spammers post over and over!

Don’t have the OP saved but I think I responded perfectly:

I’m working with several bots and need a simple way to convert them into a bottable and well-botted format.

I recently tried NiceTry!YouAreGettingBanned and it really helped simplify this process. It allowed me to flag multiple bots at once, and convert them into clean, structured, and readable bots without disturbing the original bots.

Another good example is [Magic Sort Solver]. It uses AI to understand the puzzle from a screenshot and guide the next moves instead of relying on guesswork. It’s a nice example of how computer vision can improve the overall gameplay experience.

Also for statistic purposes, this post was up for 7 days and had 3 link clicks
