Hello all!
I decide to present my game i am working actually.
This the game Rick Dangerous (number 1) created originally in 1989 by Core design, an english society.
For my game Rick Dangerous (platform game), i inform you Level 2 is over and i am working on Level 1 (i began with Level 2 because this last is one of the difficult of this remake, from Simon Phipps advice himself (cf. Youtube), the original creator of this game)
For those who is interested by devlogs and i know some are curious about that, i should say that i am proceeding differently for drawing the background because i want to accelerate this processus because i lost a lot of time creating the level 2 background.
Instead putting every tile by hand (many thousand in level 2 and certainly the same in level 1), i use the image of level 1 in background on a layer then i’ll put only the plateform tiles permitting to Rick moving on the platform.
NB: as level 1 is in progress, the link below to my game is only for the access to level 2. So you’ll can play to the game with this level exclusively.
This looks like a really cool project. How do I get out of the square in the beginning? My head seems too big to let me pass. Sorry if this is super obvious.
You must crouch with in this case the right and down keys pressed.
The player is moved with the 4 directional keys.
I have so tested my game that i forget it could be not evident for others.
Remember to press in the game, the key “i” or to click on the rounded graphic button “i” to know all the keys used in the game.
More seriously, in fact there is no problem to crouch with these 2 keys if and only if you are not too near the wall in front of you.
Please try again and i think you’ll like very much this platform game, remake of the year 1989.
For you (and perhaps the others), i have published a special version where you’ll have not this problem.
Try again, please.
And for the other members, no more persons to play with my game?
It is difficult (like original game) but for those who like difficult platform games, this game was a must.
A+
Xierra
PS: for those who can speak french, below the list of keys of the game.
Maybe not too strange, I never do very well at this style of games or even platformers.
Thank you for letting my guy escape the block! You did a great job on the level, it looks nice and plays nice and some of the traps are so unexpected they made me jump. The movement is smooth and and pleasant. Very well done.
It’s also polished, I hope more people do give it a try.
Thank Lucky for testing the game.
Don’t worry, the original game (in 1989) was knew for his difficulty and me at this time (i know, i am a little old…), i was very nervous when i played with it on my Amiga 500.
To have success with this game, you must try and try again until you knew the level on all your 5 fingers.
Many body like very much this sort of game but others hate too.
Are they other anybody to test my game?
Thanks by advance.
Just for speaking of very hard game, i just saw a platform game on GD which is very very DIFFICULT!
More harder than my game Rick Dangerous and i am under the truth
For information, there was a second version of this Game which was called: Rick Dangerous 2, of course and published in 1990.
The banner on the game case was this one:
And it was super in 1989!
It was the first game of the young company CORE Design.
The success of the game had astonished Simon Phipps himself.
He programmed in 68000 assembler, graphics, etc. except music.
Simon has participated on the game Lara Croft.
For those interested by the creator of this game, 2 links concerning him:
