it’s interesting case study. I personally think that they will likely raise a lot of money, but ultimately fail because the goal is too high. But there are 24 days left and it will be interesting to see how it goes.
If you look at which tiers people are buying the most- it’s the two cheapest license tiers.
One of their extended goals is open sourcing their engine.

Actually what is interesting is that instead of kickstarter, pitivi devs are using another website- the gnome foundation- which is non profit organization.
I remember PiTiVi being hard to use. I’d support kickstarter that would make KDEnlive work natively on Windows/osx though.
