We are Studio Qubix, a team of game developers who release high quality games for free, at no expense to the player.
This thread is a newsletter, that posts frequent updates on the developments and hurdles of our unreleased games. If you do not wish to be spoiled on these games, please don’t follow this thread.
The team is lead by @DesmonDev, and that is who will be responding until further notice, and so pronounces like “I” will be used instead of “we”, and messages will be signed off, unless simply the other user is used to respond instead. Just know that if that happens, it is also official.
Hello!
As of my previous thread, i asked whether or not to just show off unfinished games, or actually let the community pick a game to be finished. That poll is not yet, however, I need to partially develop these games, just enough to be presentable. That is what this newsletter will document now, so while it isn’t the poll yet, it may educate all of you on your decision when this poll is announced. In the mean time, you will need to know the names of the games even if you don’t yet know everything about them.
Dictator Simulator - You play as Kim Jong-un of North Korea, during the 2013 missile tests in this realistic, first-person game.
GFootball - Also known as FIFAI, a humorous but high effort knockoff of the iconic FIFA games developed by EA.
Dreamfield - An open world story-based game of a man who woke up in a dream world, and in order to leave, must fight the Calamity of the Night. However, he came to find beauty in the night, and after defeating the Calamity, decided to stay.
“drivingresearch” - A hyperrealistic story-based street racing game, with car damage, featuring the Reaction Engine, a particle engine capable of fire and explosions. Name pending, you may help me come up with ideas.
Oh, and if you think some of these games are on strange topics, like Dictator Simulator…Well, thats why we have the poll. This is just what goes on behind the scenes of that
Well, with all of that stuff out the way, you’ll see a devlog soon!
All the games you mentioned definitely seem interesting. Kinda excited to see how they look. Also, here are some more specific comments I have on the game.
Dictator simulator - sounds like one of those game that would go viral on twitch for like a few weeks.
GFootball - with FC 27 coming out, I think a fifa parody/knockoff is what everyone needs.
Dreamfield - story sounds a bit generic to me, although it’s not like I care that much for stories anyways, just as long as the game looks and sounds good.
Driving research - 100% the game I’m most interested in. I love (most) racing games, and I also like street type aesthetics as long as they’re not the generic rows of brick wall after brick wall in the middle of the day style go games go for.
Also, i actually think this is the least likely game to be played on twitch due to genre and content. I failed to mention most of the games are story-based including Dictator Simulator, with the difference that you explore North Korea, and the story is merely set in reality, not strictly based on it.
It would be very easy to understand which version of FIFAI was the first, however not the newest FIFAI game. This makes more sense due to the fact that FIFA games have existed for much longer, and have been able to have lower numbers at the end.
Yearly
This is good for marketing, as the FIFA games and FIFAI games will have the same name, however, that could potentially bring too many similarities, cause confusion, and more. even though FIFA’s and EA’s partnership has ended, the name carries a lot of significance. 26, 27, and 28 are also dull numbers. a “FIFAI 2” is powerful. Another option is doing both, like this:
“FIFAI 2 (2027)”
Blender users, my composer Gavin Kelly, my playtesters, all have absolutely no reason to be on this forum. I did try to bring on DaJust as a programmer though, and he is here.
It says site under construction, it doesnt work yet.
