The push for AI needs to stop

The problem isn’t what the AI can do, or how it’s used, it is the AI itself.

Exactly. Whether or not the AI is the most helpful tool in the world, or completely useless, people tend to assume that the AI will be a magic button.

The main reason that people like to make games is to enjoy the process of designing, coding, and bug fixing games. When you say “AI”, people will instantly think “This AI will be able to completely make a game for me.” People who don’t want AI to make a game for them will then instantly continue to look for a different game engine, without even looking into the AI to realize “Oh, it could make a game, or just be a helpful tool”.

Overall, I’m fine with the AI staying in the game engine. The problem that users such as myself are having is that it feels like GDevelop is really pushing the AI. Currently, the engine feels like “Make a game with GDevelop and it’s AI!” but I think it would be much better as “Make a game with GDevelop! If you want, we also have an optional AI!”

Hopefully this was easy enough to understand, and I hope @Snesonix and I are on the same page. I’m open to answering any other questions you have about this
