This is frustrating

So, i wanted to import a music file to my GDevelop project (an mp3 file). Then i imported, i checked the game preview and it didn’t show up. I did everything: At the beginning of the scene : Play [audio file] on channel 0, loop? yes volume: 100. I checked the details, i changed the channel identifier, went to the scene settings (cuz the audio file is connected to the scene) And guess what ?

IT STILL DIDN’T SHOW UP

This is absolutely frustrating. GDevelop, if you see this post, please fix this.

If you mean that your audio DID NOT PLAY
Then use AAC or OGG

Is this desktop or web?

I’m a tad confused. Are you importing a music file to your project, or trying to play music in the game?

Check this link about playing audio, and note the following:

If you’ve done all that, provide screen snips of your events.

Play the file on channel ‘1’? vol 100, go to resources, look for the music file, tick ‘load as music file’, also when starting the game click on the screen to trigger the music.

Did not work
It still doesn’t show up

What do you mean by “show up” ?

Like you don’t hear the sound?
If so then other thing you need to do is what MrMen suggested which is any kind of interaction

All audio here is AAC but you won’t hear anything unless you interact with game window

what doesnt show up? sound can’t be seen? Sound can’t ‘show up’. If you mean the sound doesnt play, then maybe its the fault of your specific music file.

In desktop Gdevelop, when creating Game choose “starter” template which already includes events for playing sounds (I don’t remember the exact actions). And they work well.

On some computers, it doesn’t work to make a game with .mp3 sounds. When I had a laptop, .mp3 didn’t work, but .ogg did. However, on another computer, .mp3 sounds are played.

on which browsers are you in? I know operaGX cannot play half the sounds from gdevelop. though, chrome and firefox works well. try using another browser

I had problems with the desktop app, so it might not be a browser

btw on some files i’ve the same OP issue.

using OGG format..just as info…but don’t think thaz the cause.

EDIT: NVM…it seems fixed…i just used a faster condition to play it…i believe it was a logic issue…i had to remove a trigger once…maybe since OP is playing something “at the beginning of the scene” it could be the culprit.

OP should post the event sheet.

I have a bit of an off-topic question, but it’s frustrating me, so I think it’s still relevant.
How come I see so many people writing their sentences with … everywhere? It’s super frustrating.

The documentation mention a lot about the audio, that should be the source of truth.

Anyway, I think I’ll close this topic since the OP doesn’t seem to be very active.

i tend to do that sometimes… not as much as them, but theyre a part of the english language for a reason.

what i find not frustrating but just funny is how you get frustrated at people when its your job (that youre paid for) to talk to people, of all types. Most people who are moderators or alike arent even paid for that.

Yes, i know your answer, im more off topic, go ahead, close it.

Just wanted to say I agree with what you said here.

I use “…” because, to me, it conveys that I’m making an assumption or speculating.

Speaking for myself, I usually start with a hypothesis and then try to solve the problem from there. I tend to apply that approach whenever I don’t have solid information. But, as you said, the wiki already contains everything that’s needed.

I would have liked to understand what the actual problem was by seeing a few screenshots, but the OP doesn’t seem very active in the thread.

edit:Also, it accidentally helped me fix something I had overlooked in my code.

I know im possibly the worst at this…and hopefully I’ll be a little more aware of it from here on in…perhaps.
back on topic…it’s got to be the window not clicked on issue that mr men referred to …OP!?

Don’t let anybody tell any of you how you’re supposed to speak and act. You’ll lose yourself quickly, and spend double the amount of time trying to crawl back instead of truly changing on your own.
