Lost several months of work and I’m unsure of what to do. I tried reinstalling my copy of gdevelop. I looked at the json file in text editor but it’s blank. The file also reads 0KB (as well as the autosave). When I open the file, I get this:
And no matter which one I click, I get this:
Is there somewhere I can upload the json file or the project itself so that someone can look at it?
Same happens for me (and probably for most other people) it’s save corruption that has been happening since 2020, there is nothing you can really do about it
Always make at least 3 backups and save then in different formats (one as .autosave and other as .json) and never overwrite these just make new save and trash the old one
it’s been happening more and more now or some reason… especially on overwrites
This is a rare issue that’s happened to me twice in 3 years. I would always suggest keeping a daily backup of your game files. If you spend this much time on something it’s best to do what other devs on other engines are doing, which is using external backups. A lot of them use Github, but here what I do is just make sure I keep the folder backed up both locally and on Onedrive.
