Unicode or MultiByte Languages?

When I enter some Japanese character into the scene, the character becomes some question marks like “???”, if I specify font, the text sometimes become a few squares and still don’t show up correctly. Is GD work with Unicode?

And thanks for this great software, if you don’t mind I can translate GD to Chinese/Japanese and let more people knowing about it.

That would be great! There is still problems using unicode characters in the game, but the entire interface can be translated very easily into any language!

Here is a page explaining how to translate the software using PoEdit, a very nice and easy to use software: wiki.compilgames.net/doku.php/en … anslate_gd

A russian translation was just created (see this topic: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4753&p=44560#p44560) so there will no problem translating GD to Chinese/Japanese I guess (Russian already use unicode characters).

That would be great if you manage to create an even impartial translation. I will include your translation into the software (and add you into the list of contributors!). This way GD will be available in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese and/or Chinese!

4ian, what is exactly causing issues in games for unicode strings? Maybe I could find some workaround for this.

I’ll try to translate it first, if it’s done I’ll upload the result, may take a while though.

As I’m also a MMF2 user, I remember earlier click products don’t have unicode support either, this is introduced in MMF2 , so GD with Multi-Language support will be pretty nice.
