I am teaching GDevelop at primary school. Our IT team has unblocked gevelop.io, but students always meet errors and cannot complete downloading a template within the software. Our school has gateway filter to prevent kids from visiting inappropriate website. We have tried to unblock anything related to GDevelop, but there are still something blocked which we don’t know.
Could you please give me the list of all domains and addresses our IT team must whitelist?
Subdomains of gdevelop, like resources.gdevelop.io should be whitelisted. Additionally, some parts of the application may be still using older domains, like gdevelop-app.com and compilgames.net. I think some parts of the application also require connecting to GitHub.com. Nothing else comes up on the top of my mind.
Has there been an update to the list of urls to allow?
I’ve unblocked all of the ones listed above using wildcards and our students are still blocked from creating new games, viewing assets, and viewing in-app (web-based) tutorials.
I’ve unblocked everything in that list as well as quite a few other urls that I could find related to GDevelop or that Gemini suggested. But my students on MacBooks are still getting blocked from the Asset Store, from starting in-app tutorials, and from creating anything but a blank game (templates are missing).
I reinstalled the app on my students’ MacBooks (M2) but I’m still seeing missing features. If anyone has any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
By scanning the network requests and the source code, I can see few more calls to:
*.firebaseapp.com
*.firebaseio.com
*.appspot.com
Can you take a look at the network requests on the students’ computers? They might be blocked and logged in the app’s console.
The app has a console via CTRL+SHIFT+i, but perhaps you could get more information through your internal logs on your network.
Please note that if you’re logged in with an educational student account, it’s normal not to see the Asset Store; we’ve intentionally blocked access to the Asset Store for student accounts. You shouldn’t even see the tab, as teachers don’t want students to get distracted by a store that involves money.
If you’re still having trouble, I’ve forwarded you a DM here on the forum with the email from the educational support team.
