Windows user, although I have experience in other OSes, mainly some Linux distros and MacOS (not gonna lie, using MacOS was a terrible experience for me, just not used to how restrictive the OS is when it comes to file exploring.

LinuxMint is basically what windows could have become if it wasn’t bloated with ads and distractions.

It is simply much better for me. No ads, no spyware running on the background, and unlike most other distros, linux mint just works, no other crap required!

But unfortunately my NVIDIA gpu can’t be utilized, or else ALL GUI apps crash, except terminal.

Yeah I use Windoze 11. Haven’t used Linux since I needed to recover a bunch of stuff off my landlord’s computer that crashed (windoze machine as well) and that was several years ago. The last time I played with the bash command was probably back in 2010ish. I remember KDE plasma or something. Best eye-candy desktop environment I’ve ever seen.

Thank you everyone for your votes, so far this poll has had an exciting turnout!

An update of the current results:

Not surprisingly, the ever popular Windows is reigning King of this poll to date, Linux has made a robust turnout, and yes we even have macOS in the house, thanks to one voter jumping in to represent! Finally, we also have one voter that uses a mobile device to augment his regular development operating system - killing two birds with one stone! Or would that be, killing one stone with two birds?

Can you even run GDevelop with BSD OSes? I’m assume you can run the browser version, ALTHOUGH there definitely isn’t a desktop app for BSD.

Also, here’s another question. Has anyone used a BSD OS? Not even use it for your main machine, I mean has anyone here, out of curiosity, made a BSD VM and tried it for like 5 minutes before shutting down the VM, not to touch it ever again?

Lol it’s not that bad! I have FreeBSD 14.3-RELEASE on a desktop, and I really like it.

I can only speak of FreeBSD, if it was the only operating system you had, yes you could run GDevelop on it. First, as you guessed, you can run the browser version. But I like the app because I like a file on my pc that I can quickly add and commit changes while I work. I tried porting GDevelop to FreeBSD but I got an error when compiling and I did not know enough to fix it. So I resorted to making a Linux bhyve vm to run GDevelop on FreeBSD. However, since I already have access to macOS, Windows 10/11, and half a dozen or more Linux distros, it seemed to me that there was no shame in concluding that FreeBSD was not the best tool for the job amongst what else I have available.
