Wordle 476 5/6*
I don’t usually find fours interesting and don’t post until I do have one that’s interesting. But here’s a four, it looked like it was slipping away from me so was very proud of myself to get it in the fourth guess.
Wordle 476 4/6
I used to enjoy Wordle, but NYT has dampened my enthusiasm for the game over the last 2 Wordles.
because it’s become Americanised. It started off as an English word game, and recently there’s been an increase in answers with American spellings and words.
Wordle 477 X/6*
Yes MrMen, I came here to air my complaints too.
I’m fine with American spelling (although it would be nicer without it) but I strongly dislike today’s answer, not because of it’s US origins, but because I feel an informal greeting has no place in a puzzle about words. And yeah, being regional doesn’t help.
And it’s not just about one’s score. It’s about the thought process for future games being distracted by wondering ‘should I guess this word that I don’t think belongs here?’ For example, MrMen, I’m assuming your sixth guess was hoody? And that you probably didn’t like that being the answer, I know I wouldn’t.
But guessing dubious words has unfortunately become part of the process and if it becomes more common will definitely be a turn off.
Wordle 477 4/6
It’s a word I have used a lot after crane failed all letters. I even thought about it for guess two, but I tried to be creative and it let me down.
That’s a sad one. It must have felt like you were on the right track, but in fact you were laying in the gutter.
I don’t have problems with American/English spellings. My English is compiled from different sources. But I could understand it being a problem when it has always been an English focused game.
I haven’t had much time to play, but any score will suffice.
Wordle 478 4/6*
For us (@Bubble and me), I think it’s more so because we’re taught English English. American English is starting to creep into our societies (I noticed a paint shop with the word “Color”), but those types of words are very scarce.
What do you guys think of the changes to the start of Wordle, with the “Great job on today’s puzzle”? Personally I find it a bit fake and a tad condescending. Maybe it’s aimed at the snowflakes in the world, and next they’ll offer a printable participation certificate.
Anyway, my latest Wordle. It took a bit of thinking to get lines 3 and 4 (particularly 4), but I’m pleased with it :
Wordle 479 4/6*
I haven’t noticed it yet, but it does sound patronizing. I especially don’t like the memorization of the last entered letter. This also falls into that same category.
Hahaha, you might be right
Thank you for your input, but I would never use a site like that. I would rather puzzle my way to failure.
You did pretty good
It also took me some thinking time, and the closer I got to the X/6 I got a little nervous.
Wordle 479 5/6*
Hahahah, I did a loud Bubble laugh at this.
Much better than mine.
Wordle 478 6/6
I haven’t seen it. I’ve noticed there’s a giant blank space above the puzzle lately and a browser label saying advertisement. Haven’t seen the thing about the last letter that ES mentioned either.
Ooh MrMen, yes haha, very good effort with your 479 turnaround.
Wordle 479 4/6
Unfortunately I used a dead letter from guess three again in guess four. And was starting to wonder what on earth the answer could be.
Wordle 480 5/6
This one was also a toughie to figure out.
Wordle 481 4/6
Welcome Dadrgan, haha, I feel the same way as Epicsleeper about getting help but wouldn’t be able to express it as beautifully as he did:
So close to a three.
Wordle 482 4/6
Don’t worry, I had your back on that one
Wordle 482 3/6*
Haha, I desperately want a three. Look where I’m at for 483:
I have six options for the first letter.
So yeah, thought I’ll go for a three and if that fails then demean myself by playng easy mode to test as many letters as I can. Ugh, not even that was an easy way out.
Wordle 483 6/6
Haha, oh man, that’s a nasty one. You must have been packing yourself near the end. Today’s Wordle was a trickier one, event though the word is quite common :
Wordle 483 5/6*
Yes, but I nailed the pattern in my second guess. Haha, it’s hard to move on.
So close to a two.
Wordle 484 3/6
Your turn MrMen.
I had to dig around in my brain to get the right answer, and managed a respectable 3 :
Wordle 484 3/6*
Your turn, ES?
MrMen, a couple of days ago when I said so close to a three, you ‘had my back’ and replied with your three. So now that I’m saying so close to a two, I meant it’s now up to you to supply the two.
That’s like a hospital pass. A 3 is quite a achievement for this old boy, given my average is just under 4.
Too bad I can’t reply with a 3. Although I’m happy I had time to do the Wordle. I have missed a couple.
Not a 3, but I almost had a trident.
Wordle 484 5/6*
Wordle 485 4/6*
Oh haha, we say hospital handball here, well for my code of football anyway.
ES, your trident one would have been frustrating. I see a hand waving but we can’t see all of it.
This was an obscure one, I thought of it earlier but thought it might be a word with a capital letter so didn’t guess it. Was completely mystified and for guess four was putting random made up words that I knew the wordle dictionary would reject Then unfortunately it accepted one of them so my guess four wasn’t very helpful. This is what turned out to be a word.
steek
Wordle 485 5/6
Those ones are indeed very frustrating Glad I got out of it in time.
Haha yeah, someone took half a picture of a hand, or it’s a foot with toe cheese
This used to be a strategy of my wife only, but sometimes I implement it as well. The downside is that it can feel pretty awkward when the final answer is a familiar word.
Nothing fancy.
