What's your score on Wordle?

Nah, one was on my home computer, the other on the work one. And they were both different words. Go figure.

No, I’m confused. They were different words, but from the same day? I have no idea what’s going on. I do change between my work computer and home computer when I do Wordle. But that shouldn’t affect the word, right?

Okay, in my timezone:
your 261 was at 9:25am on Monday
your first 262 was 8am Tuesday
your second 262 was at 6:38am Wednesday
your 263 at 3:38pm Wednesday.
That’s two today, Wednesday. So your pattern is you post in the morning, but today you posted again in the afternoon.

I don’t know what’s going on. Your 262s are across two days. And what’s going on with your afternoon wordle? Nothing makes any sense.

Not unless you had two different cases of brain fuzz.
Tuesday you did wordle 262 on computer A
Fuzz 1: Wednesday morning you were on computer B and the wordle page wasn’t refreshed, so you did the same 262 wordle again without realising.
Fuzz 2: Wednesday afternoon on one of the computers you thought, oh, I haven’t done wordle yet and so you did 263. And completely forgot you had done a wordle that morning.

If there was no brain fuzz and this is some as yet unexplained weirdness, do you have a record of your wordle answers? I do, if that helps.

And on a side note, this thread is over the :100: reply mark now.

That wouldn’t surprise me. old age can play tricks with the mind :D. Once upon a time I bought a console game, realised it was rubbish and wondered why I even bought it. Then I found another copy of the same game I’d bought a few months earlier.

Still doesn’t beat a mate of mine whos cleaned up his book collection, and found he had 4 copies of the same book.

No, I tend to play and forget

Haha, okay, then, let’s call it a case of double brain fuzz to add to your collection of fuzzy moments. But at least your 262 score improved the second time; you went from a 6/6 to 4/6. The word you did twice was

Answer to wordle 262

‘sweet’

I can check back my wordle anwers because a friend and I send each other the actual game screenshot rather than the score.

 I think I must have had a Twilight moment…

Well today when I finally worked out how the word ended, there were so many words ending that way that I could have failed just going through them all. So got lucky.

When you’re stuck with too many choices, try to find a word that contains several potential letters, e.g:
_other
could be mother, pother, bother.
You can try aplomb which contains m, p and b.

…and now I’ll unsubscribe from this thread.

Wowww, that is such a smart strategy (and I never would have thought of it, haha).

Haha, another excellent strategy.

Yayyyyyyy

Score! How many 2 liners does that make it now? It’s great when the starter word gives you quite a few of the letters to work with. Still, it requires some deduction. Well done.

From last night (it was still in my browser this morning) : Wordle 266 3/6

And then today :

I find I’m beginning to think about the options a bit more now, rather than blindly plonking down a word.

Will scroll down and look at your 267 later. For your 266 you were in anagram territory, nice.
I only have two 2 liners and the same number of 6 liners
So maybe they cancel each other out?
Nope.

And thank you again MrMen for starting this thread, I don’t think I would know about Wordle otherwise.

No, they average out to 4 (mean or median, though not mode)

I’ve got 2 Wordle ‘accounts’. One on my home computer, the other on my work machine. Any idea how I could consolidate the two?

Yes, you need to open the local storage stats on each computer, get the relevant values from each in the Data column, combine them and work out your totals using your maths skills (no worries for you with your mean, median and mode talk, haha).

Then you update the stats on one or both computers:
So copy the nyt-wordle-statistics from the Value column, open it in notepad or where ever and put the new total values in. Then paste this back into the Value column where you got it from. Of course, be cautious and edit a copy of the original stats in case there’s any fuzzy moments happening :grinning:

This pic shows the Data column which has the easy to read display of the long string in the Value column. So this will be the easy place to find out what your stats are before editing them in the Value column section.

Yes, well, I always play this way and I can tell you, more thinking is not a guarantee of better results, haha. Which I can see from a quick glance at your most recent result.

Unfortunately I couldn’t do my best effort for 267 as I accidentally saw the answer when checking that game stats stuff. So as my guesses of fours slightly outnumbered my threes, did it in four ‘guesses’ in keeping with my current stats. Couldn’t have lived with myself if I’d ‘done’ it in three, haha.

Touche

Yeah, that’s one thing that should have been changed - maybe even if the word just had some simple encryption so “cheating” isn’t easy. I spotted the word by accident a while back, and it spoils the puzzle for the day.

Yes, especially as for me at least the column with the headings was very narrow and game state and game statistics have the same letters until the end.

What did you do?

I didn’t do the puzzle for the day. It just felt wrong to pretend I didn’t know it and have a guess at it.

Not great for me either and I stupidly put my fifth letter yellow in line 1 in the same place in line 2.
