A GOOD FEW YEARS? man ai srsly will take over the world, just not the way we thought it would…
That is very true. AI should be used as a helpful tool, not as an answer key. For example, AI can help you solve bugs in your game. I have been using ChatGPT a bit for certain problems (now I use the forums mostly) and it can be pretty helpful. The problem with it is when people have it just create an entire game for them. Still, AI will not be the best at making games. If you ask someone to draw you a photo of something, when they draw it it will for sure look different then you imagined it in your head. Even if you be super descriptive, there really isn’t any way to get that exact photo without you drawing it yourself.
Summary:
I think using AI to help is good. If you use it to just generate a game, thats bad. As a wise person once said…
Hmm, indeed a very wise person. ![]()
Hi!
A Tibetan even, with all the respect that we owe them.
To @SnowyRawrGamer: decidedly, you have a lot of wisdom. ![]()

In a few years, there’ll be a War, humans against AI created machines, like in the Terminator movies.
I am ok with you.
And the human will have wanted it because it is not for lack of having been warned by JC (not Jesus Christ but James Cameron of course)
Unless nature takes charge of it anyway.

Well in my experiences gdev’s ai is horrible, it can make only one type of game with only one set of sprites. so if you make a high quality game people probably wont think its ai generated.
It depends on the games you create and their originality. A great game will have no mention of the engine in the first place.
i have read all of your replies, you have given me a bit of determination, i will carry on with my game dev journey but im still kind of scared, how do i prove i didnt use ai against accusations that will eventually and inevitabely appear?
Just make your gameplay unique, and also make your own assets, and you should be fine.
Some people just can’t do programming, even with GDevelop which writes all the code for you behind the scenes.
Hi all!
It remains to be seen what we mean by programming!
When you put some events in a certain order, it’s programming.
When you choose some conditions and not other, it’s again programming.
When you order an application like GD to do somethings, it’s also programming.
The programming evolved a lot since his origin: nowadays, we use a lot games engines while in the past about 1940-1950 years, we used lamps in very big computers. When a lamp were dead (burnt out), a technician ran rapidly to change the lamp (it’s the truth!)

Yeah except in the '40s and 50s there was no Internet because it wasn’t invented till circa the late 80s, not released to the general public till 1991.
Hello Richard!
I didn’t speak about Internet but you are right.
How the Generation Z (even Y) would do if no more Internet and Networks existed?
The world would fall in chaos, it’s sure.
Me, Baby Boomers’s generation, would be of course impacted greatly but i think i would read again ancient technical books i have in digital form.

Honestly, I was trying here to write some of my thoughts about this AI topic for a good amount of minutes but I decided to not post it.
Why?: A few weeks ago there was a situation where someone thought one of my simple texts would be generated with AI, maybe because it was nicely organized or formatted? I don’t have an idea why, I don’t use this technology but this situation made me more clear that AI has the potential to replace humans, this could be an issue in the future.
Personally, especially as an artist I don’t use AI not even for texts and I think AI should not be used to create games .
Hi @Ambytar!
Your post is good because 10 minutes ago, I received a call on my smartphone.
The female voice kept repeating in French but with silences, “Hello Mr. —, are you well?”
And this is what bothers me and scares me about AI: it is the use of this tool that can be dangerous and not the technology.
I think we’re still far from the Terminator level, but with time and if there’s money to be made, we’ll get to that level.

Hey @Amigo54,
Myself is aware about such calls. It is a real unfortunate situation, especially for people who aren’t aware about AI.
You know in the industrial age humankind has prevented robots / machines taking over because of workforce and so on, history.
But nowadays we have the digitally abstract existing AI which even has the potential threat to manipulate simple human communication, trust etc…This AI thing should get official restrictions and regulations.
All right with you but In France as outside this country i suppose, we wait some damages made by IA before to think on all consequences of this technologies.
It’s not only unfortunate mais dangerous for all the present and future victims.

The best part about Game Development is the excitement from working your game up to a polished masterpiece! Having AI make it for you kinda defeats that purpose and excitement. Making the game yourself also introduces you to the struggle of Coding and other aspects which makes you feel even better when you overcome those struggles and learn how to avoid those struggles again, though this is all my opinion.
