I’m pretty sure i saw this somewhere else before but to spread it further i’ll make my own topic, WHY does gdevelop pride itself SO MUCH with the fact it has AI, i am so afraid that if i release my game, people will accuse me of using gdevelop’s AI, even though i do EVERYTHING myself. Can’t gdevelop make it so when you use AI on your game, it will tell you that via text on the screen or something? Rn there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to prove that i’m not a lazy AI dev and i’m sick of it. I like gdevelop for it being so easy to use with its no code and then they hit everyone with THIS?!!?

I know …but there’s an inevitable inevitability about it all! I mean …if someone plays your game …that’s the main thing! and in a few years everyone will assume everything was made with AI anyway. Look at all these words we’ve written! …would have been much easier with chatgpt! Nice pic…it’ll be being processed by by the algorithm as I type and something similar will be spat out in a couple of months when someone types ‘king’ ‘game art’ ‘crying’ …embrace it, and resent it!

It is never the tool that can worry but always the use that humans can make it …
Like what, yesterday’s science fiction had (almost) everything planned.
But you should also know that a lot of things of the today’s advanced technology is often the progressive evolution of technology and the science of the past.
Come on, enough philosophy for today and take back our affairs with creating games, with IA non-generative for me as far as I am concerned.

Last I checked, the AI in GDevelop can barely put together a functional platformer. I think we have a good few years before AI takes over the engine.

I was a little worried then curious and then it failed terribly in building a game using it fully.
Its good for experimanting and problem solving but doesnt magically make a good game or even properly functioning game - so dont sweat it to much.

Yep. Even if AI can fully make you a game, there is one thing it can’t do. THE GAME BUILDING EXPERIENCE! Even if AI can mass build games, it can never replicate the joy you experience while building and designing a game. Most people don’t just build a game to have the finished product, they enjoy spending time problem solving, fixing bugs, and getting ideas for their game.

Read a book or see a one sentence summary?
Most people would rather build a game then have the game be built for them!

I used AI when I first GDevelop last year, all it ever made was some naff platformer that was nowhere even near what I told it to make.
You know, everyone’s saying AI this, AI that. You know what, I’m gonna test it out!
Here’s my prompt: “Add a scene of a fighting game stage, with the two characters movements being programmed.”
cool - can i play it!
The game barely function. The AI just sets up variables, you have to program the collision for attacks yourself, which if you think about it, is a good thing. Also the game gave the characters the platformer character extension, not exactly something that would be helpful making a fighting game.

100% true, almost everything i use has upgraded into ai, My email Proton,
firefox, and now GDevelop??? I feel like everybody’s now depending on ai nowdays, also thats true nobody know if your game is made by ai, and thats s shame. If people keep using ai they will get lazy to do anything them selves.
