This a weird thing to ask why does the google drive support end soon.
- The Drive feature is used very little, almost everyone has migrated to the cloud feature.
- The feature requires maintaining code with Google.
- The cloud feature has better integration.
We’ve postponed the deadline since January to give the lastest users plenty of time to back up their projects.
Zero projects will be lost after deprecation of the Google Drive feature, since game files are stored in users’ Google Drive. They can still be imported again into GDevelop from the desktop app.
There is a way to download your project from the web so why not importing from it.
Because cross domain security restrictions have existed in browsers and websites for over a decade now
Without a direct integration, you aren’t uploading directly from another website into GDevelop.
In theory the File System API from the browser could be used in the web app. However, since there is a desktop version that can open local files, this functionality was never added.
Note that the File System API and the method used by the desktop version to open a project are two different technologies.
Apologies, thought they were asking to open a project from a web storage provider to upload into GDevelop cloud, not just open a local project.
If so, ignore my above post.
