40 hours? If you constantly battling problems what made you using the software that long?
Normally I make my decision after couple of hours if something worth using or not.
For the record I’m using GDevelop for 4+ years on and off and NEVER experienced any crash. At least not on Windows. It might be not that stable on Linux and Mac but If you are using Linux you must face a challenge daily anyway. Everyday something crash on Linux it might be the problem. You just had enough, you should start using an OS that is targeting home users. In case you are using a Mac maybe your problem is that you are not used to crashes as the OS and all software is rock solid and see something doesn’t work is a new experience to you. In that case you might want to stick to the Apple store to get your softwares.
Or maybe you can explain your problem without any **** so we can try to help or the dev might fix it…
But what I would suggest is try GD5. I don’t think GD4 and the C++ code base going to receive any more updates.

In theory it supports Linux, actually Ubuntu (up to 16.04), but make the IDE fully compatible in Windows, Ubuntu and Mac (which hardly works) is more difficult each day, that’s why GD5.
GD5 is very limited, yes, but it’s the developer first priority, so it will be improved constantly
In case you want to use GD4 on Linux from my experience you are better off with the Windows version running through Wine. This is what I was doing back in the days when I was using Linux and worked perfectly on most distros but of course to target Linux, I had to use the HTML5 platform and I’m also more interested in the web platform anyway so GD5 works perfectly for me.
Regarding limitations, there is no a single tool in the whole universe that comes with no limitations. Every single tool and engine out there got limitations , bugs and design flaws that need to be worked around and need to deal with but whatever GD has to offer is free and developed by a single person in spare time so everyone should keep that in mind.
If you can’t appreciate the hard work the developer put in to GD and it does not fit your needs for any reason, no one force you to use it but most importantly you don’t have the right to demand anything especially in such manner. You didn’t pay for it, 4ian didn’t made any promises and no one holding a gun to your head to use it…
Especially not if you are using Linux, Linux is the ICON of poor quality software, poor compatibility, bugs and crashes so if you are using Linux don’t be surprised if something crash. Linux is a horrible platform to support.

I agree. I’ve banned him for some hours after the first post, the post I deleted now was made with a new profile, with such a great username and language, so I’ve banned the IP for a week.
About Linux, it’s a shame that there are so many distributions, the open sourceness… It’s a blessing… and a curse.
