I am porting a simulation prototype from Construct to Gdevelop. Because of reasons…, well mostly because of Gd5’s custom objects (prefabs) and possibly taking the project from 2D to 3D at some point in the future.
Anyway, I would like to share the the project with the community. Not yet being proficient in Gd5 I am looking for feedback. Best practices and such. At this time I am not even sure if Gdevelop can handle this type of game/simulation.
WARNING: The project is not even close to being functional. I am still figuring out on how to import my backend data (Airtable) and other speed bumps.
The project files are on my local machine, an online version is on “gd.games” and I keep a Github repo.
Any input is appreciated.
The Construct version is here (suspicious link removed). You can place and remove units and thats pretty much it.
if you’re looking for community feedback then a link to the gd.games version in the community section here will usually get you some feedback, but i would recommend getting it closer to functional first or you won’t get feedback about the things that you want feedback about - it’ll be be feedback about the problems that you already know are a problem.
i would turn this into another how do i post and describe exactly what you want to do. is there anything similar to what you’re trying to do on gdgames? -just had a quick look and couldn’t find anything!
First time I hear about this. I am using Static.app which comes recommended by the Construct team as the “One-click hosting solution for your static* website.”
It’s more class room tool than game. The goal for the students is to build energy infrastructure that satisfies the power demand and keep CO2 emissions to a minimum.
I think that what you wanted got lost in your post but was clear in your post title. I’ll answer the question in your post title. The best way to share your game is to do what you said you’ve already done which is to put it on gd.games.
But clearly you can’t do that with your construct game. I checked the construct website and I can confirm they do have a link to the static host that you used. But I would have to say that the generic username paired with the generic host name doesn’t inspire trust.
If hosting your construct game in the construct arcade is not an option for you then you can use itch.io. Many users here already use itch and even if your username is generic again, it will be on itch and that is a trusted place.
Or possibly convert the project back to the cloud. Then I can send out invites for people that want to look at my code.
I am not enthusiastic about the flat asset structure though.
I have been using Static.app on and off for 3 years. They seem to have an impressive roster of clients. This is the first time I have run into issues, but I understand where everybody is coming from.
