I’ve seen this being requested for about 4 years now already, but I can’t really find any latest updates or even tutorials/documentation either how to make this possible or if it’s being planned to be added as a feature in the engine, so I decided to just open a feature request. I really don’t feel like learning a new game engine just because of this when I already know pretty good this one.
PS: What I mean by Destructive Terrain is possibility to make worms-like terrain destruction where explosion for instance will make hole in the ground.
No it’s not. If you think I’m wrong, try making platforms and bullets to work with physics using that example. Forget what you see visually in that example, I am not going to explain how it works, but it’s not the same as just masking (as in that example).
In worms you make holes in terrain
You describe destructible terrain as in worms
What you have in that example is making holes in terrain
You can adjust size or even shape of it i guess
And now you say you not even gonna explain what you have in mind?
Then how you wanna any1 to understand what you in mind IF its different from worms (even so you mention worms as example)
And provide you any assistance?
In 1st message you did not even mention anything about physics
Core ingredient of getting any help is explaining what you expect so other ppl can understand what you want to achieve explain to you how to do it if its possible
If you do not want to explain it then you won’t get help most likely
I’ll reply you for the last time because I don’t want this to turn into off-topic or arguing.
I am not looking for help, I am suggesting an ability/feature that will allow us to make destructible terrain like in worms games. I don’t know obviously EXACTLY how they made it in that game, but I am sure it’s not just by masking layers like in the example you provided. What I am sure about tho, is that those pixels/parts around bomb are actually removed/cut/destroyed from the game after explosion. Which is what I’m suggesting here, an actual mechanic that will allow us to do the same.
I’m not writing this for everyone (as you said how I expect everyone to understand me), only for actual developers and of the engine, and people who probably understood even in the first post what I’m talking about because this is an ages old topic, and it’s pretty clear what I’m trying to say if you have a little bit of knowledge in coding.
You again did not explain anything beyond what you already wrote
You did not even mention anything about physics or platforms
And just because you are sure worms game was not made some way does not mean it was not
It means you just have some assumption
So you do need help
If you can’t explain to ppl who could actually implement it what exactly you mean and how it should work
Then no one will even bother cause something like what you describe already exist
So it is in your best interest to explain it properly and not for me to know what you mean
