Example with sprite as colission VS colision mask

There is an example that uses a hidden sprite with the shape of a rectangle as collision.

Why not to use the colision mask? There is any advantaje?

Edit: Ok, doing tests it is in order to have a more consistent and smooth interaction with platforms since colisions mask can change a lot between animations.
