My answers for whole OSTs are:
Sonic CD JP
Street Fighter III (Second Impact & Third Strike)
Entire F-Zero franchise, except for GP Legends
OutRun 2006
Mega Man (8, 9, 10, and Bass, X3) (Saturn version for 8 and X3, SFC version for and Bass)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (here for the remixes specifically)
Echo the Dolphin (Sega CD version)
Star Fox 64
DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (English OST)
Individual tracks:
Gran Turismo 5 - dark line
Streets of Rage 2 - Go Straight
Sonic 3 - IceCap Zone Act 1
Honourable Mentions:
Fifa 14 (uses licensed music, so not really an “original” soundtrack)
Ridge Racer 4 (heard bits of the soundtrack, but not enough to justify putting on the main list)
Lone - Galaxy Garden (maybe it’s a bit of a stretch to put a music album on this list, but you could have honestly fooled me into believing that it was made for a video game.)
Pokemon Emerald (not much to say here, just prefer the OSTs from my favorites list)
F-Zero (1992 jazz album)
F-Zero the Graded Driver 2201 (both this and the album above are remixes of the original f-zero games soundtrack. I especially like the jazz album from 1992)
Rolling Sky (here because that game has both an original soundtrack, as well as remixes, or straight up rips music from other people. It’s also been a while since I last played, so I can’t judge the ost of the past year of the game.)
Also, if you’re wonrdering why most of my options are from the 90’s to 2000’s, it’s because I emulate a lot of games. Maybe to many.
I’ve added enough OSTs to last a lifetime tbh, I’ll stop now.
My favourite bit of gaming music ever (just been playing it on guitar) is the bit where you’re jumping over lava in Super Mario Bros 2
I still love the Hollow Knight music …‘green path’ etc
I went back to the old ZX Spectrum games (yes i’m of that era too) to try to find an one that I still remember fondly …it was a bit of a retro rabbit hole and i struggled to find anything that i would recommend as a fun listening experience and manic miner was just ‘in the hall of the mountain king’ but bleeby
As mentioned Witcher 3 soundtrack is great.
At a theatre near me soon there’s a 28 piece orchestra playing the music from undertale…but £50 a ticket!!
Here’s some songs that I like from their soundtracks:
Bad Apple!! (Touhou: Lotus Land Story) by ZUN (yes the original not the lyrics version. that one is fanmade)
Necrofantasia (Touhou: Perfect Cherry Blossom) by ZUN
Interlaced (Just Shapes and Beats) by MDK (as far as I know this was for JSAB because it isn’t anywhere else, not on streaming or GD’s music library)
Spider Dance Remix (and the original song too, from JSAB and Undertale respectively) by Shirobon (and Toby Fox, the original song’s composer)
Credits, Options, and sing sing red indigo (A Dance of Fire and Ice) by Frums
Joubutsu 2000 and SAITAMA 2000 (Taiko no Tatsujin) by Linda Ai-Cue
彁 (pronounced “ka” (Taiko no Tatsujin) by LeaF
This doesn’t really count, I feel, since these songs aren’t part of the base game and they’re part of online levels (meaning basically they are on newgrounds.com for use in the game or songfilehub.com for song file replacement) but Shiver by False Noise, Every End by Dimrain47, The Mind Electric by Miracle Musical (YES I GET TO MENTION IT HERE HAHAHAHAAAA), Apoplexy by Bee Hunter, Open Window by Jarvis9999 and a few others are pretty good songs used in Geometry Dash. Shiver, The Mind Electric, and Open Window are all song replacements, by the way.
