Hey Everyone! What are some features of the GDevelop forum that you like / dislike?
Personally, I love how :smiley auto turns into !
There are quite a few things I dislike throughout the forum, and I don’t mean this post to be a hate post, I just want to know how others feel about different features aswell
The 30 day limit for members on editing posts is kinda random, like I get that people could edit it and spam stuff but in that case it’s the same thing as if they spammed a new topic anyway.
Another thing is name changing, shown here by Bubble:
I don’t understand why users over a month can’t change their name, especially if they are high trust level
If I get reminded of anything else, I will also put it here. What do you think about these features though? I feel like things are kind of unnecessarily locked to stop trolls, but trolls could still easily work around these features.
I think changing your username isn’t a big deal and can be something a mod can do for the user. Maybe until trust level is high enough can the user change it themselves. Early users I feel like should be locked in to a username until a certain number of days or whatever to help stop people from spamming or what not.
I actually really like the forum software Discourse (that this is), it’s a great tool and has a ton of really cool features.
Alright. I don’t know if this is just me, but it seems like users cannot change their description???! I made my description when I first joined the forum, but now it seems that I can’t change it. Has anyone else dealt with this?
Is it just me having a two year long ‘senior moment’ or is there no go to top/go to bottom button for the threads.
When walking to school as a lad there was a metal gate to the side of the path …unloved, unremarkable, and serving no purpose. I would use it anyway just to give it purpose and make it feel better about itself…
Yes! The no edit part is particularly painful, I often notice something that I want to change in my posts, but a few hours have passed and now I’m locked out of changing anything in my own post… or for example in the recent thread about my game, I would like to edit my initial post to add information about new updates and features added… instead of doing that, I’m forced to create a brand new post or reply in the thread. Which in essence floods the thread with multiple posts, making them feel distant and hard to find. It would be much better if I could compile all that info in a single post via the edit.
I really hope it gets changed. At least give us the right to edit our own posts.
